These Carbon Monoxide Alarm Program Terms and Conditions apply to all Hosts participating in Airbnb's Carbon Monoxide Alarm Program ("CO Alarm Program"). The CO Alarm Program is designed to help reduce risks related to the accumulation of undetected CO in the accommodations listed on the Airbnb platform. CO is an odorless, colorless gas that, among other things, can compromise the respiratory system and can even lead to death. Airbnb encourages all Hosts to help reduce the possible consequences of CO poisoning by installing CO alarms in accommodations listed on the Airbnb Platform.
Your acceptance of these Carbon Monoxide Alarm Program Terms and Conditions ("CO Alarm Terms") supplement the Airbnb Terms of Service ("Terms"), Airbnb Payments Terms of Service ("Payments Terms"), and Airbnb Privacy Policy ("Privacy Policy") (collectively, "Airbnb Terms").
You are contracting with the same Airbnb entities with which you are contracting under the Airbnb Terms. These CO Alarm Terms control over any conflict with the Airbnb Terms, unless explicitly stated otherwise. Any capitalized terms used in these CO Alarm Terms and not defined will have the meanings given to them in the Terms, Payment Terms, or Privacy Policy, respectively.
Hosts participating in the CO Alarm Program will receive one or more notices or communications informing them of the need to take action in accordance with the Program Requirements for some or all of their listings ("Eligible Listings"). Once you receive the first notice, you will have a period of sixty (60) days to take one of the following actions for each of your Eligible Listings ("Program Requirements"):
Where available and applicable, you have the option to request one free CO alarm per Host. Requests for free CO alarms are subject to the Home Safety Terms and Conditions.
For each Eligible Listing for which you do not complete the Program Requirements, Airbnb Payments may perform a one-time withholding of an amount as shown in Schedule 1 or its equivalent in the currency applicable to your selected Payout Method (the "Withheld Funds") from your next scheduled Payout(s) until such Program Requirements are completed. Following the completion of the Program Requirements for each Eligible Listing, Airbnb Payments shall promptly release the Withheld Funds in your selected currency based on the exchange rate applicable at the time of the Payout. The time it takes to receive the Withheld Funds once released by Airbnb Payments may depend upon the Payout Method you selected. If you do not complete the Program Requirements within six (6) months of the date of the Payout from which the Withheld Funds were withheld, Airbnb will retain the money as a fee which will be used for Airbnb’s home safety program to make CO alarms available to Hosts and you will have no further rights to it.
In addition to meeting the Program Requirements, you are responsible for keeping your CO alarm operational at all times.
Airbnb does not guarantee, recommend nor endorse any device or retailer. You may choose the type, characteristics and manufacturer of their CO alarm, as long as it meets the requirements established in official standards issued by relevant authorities. Any issue related to the CO alarm’s installation, maintenance and/or performance is subject to the manufacturer's responsibility. Airbnb encourages you to fully review and understand the manufacturer’s instruction manual before installing a CO alarm.
As stated in the Terms, you are responsible for your acts and omissions as well as for keeping your Listing information and content (like amenities and safety devices) up-to-date and accurate at all times.
Airbnb reserves the right to modify these CO Alarm Terms at any time in accordance with the Terms, and to change or discontinue the CO Alarm Program (or any portion of it) at any time.
