Lage

Leigh Woods, Grossbritannien

Leigh Woods is a very special area created mainly in the 1800's after the opening of Clifton Suspension Bridge. It has a mixture of old and new houses, large and small.
There are rare flora and fauna growing on the Avon Gorge.
Cycling, walking, jogging, climbing, are activities popular around this area.
Ashton Court at the top of our road, has acres of parkland and woodland, a golf course, and mountain biking and cycling.
Leigh woods itself is owned by the National Trust. It is free to walk and mountain bike, cycle around. It has an Iron Age Fort.
Clifton village is a pretty vibrant place with plenty of independent boutiques, and eateries, including, "The Ivy" brasserie.
From the village it is an interesting and attractive walk into the city, and down to the harbour side.
Buses/taxis run regularly from Clifton village to all areas of the city.
Walking to Bristol city Centre, the Hippodrome Theatre, Colston Hall, The Old Vic, SS Great Britain, the harbour side, (35-45 mins).
The best walk from our house, to experience the old Bristol and the new is by going via the harbour side into the city centre. Passing over the Clifton Suspension Bridge, designed by Isambard Brunel, through parts of old Bristol with Georgian houses, to the docks and harbour where there are water taxis into town. Continuing to walk along, the views are so pretty with brightly painted houses and house boats. SS Great Britain designed by Brunel is a definite "go to" whilst here. The M Shed on the harbour side, will provide a history of the city, and has various travelling exhibitions. The Arnolfini Gallery will always delight those who enjoy modern art and music, housed on the harbourside.
Bristol itself is such a fantastic, vibrant and exciting place to be, with friendly and happy people living here.
There is a Bristol language.....
"Brizzle" is the correct pronunciation!
"Gert Lush" meaning 'nice, good tasty'.
'All Shipshape and Bristol Fashion', came from the port of Bristol's reputation for efficiency in the days of sail.
Bristol Blue Glass is very special, and you can have a go at blowing your own glass bauble!
Harvey's Bristol Cream Sherry also made here.
Plenty of guided walks and tours, so no problems of what to do.
Bristol Balloon Fiesta is an annual event in August, including several days of entertainment.
