The trullo, given its dominant position (about 400 meter above s.l.), is often ventilated.
Winds of Mistral and Tramontane (North/North West) that with their more fresh and dry air make the South hot weather well bearable even during main heat hours of the day. While at night, even in the summer months, often you might will wear a light sweatshirt or cotton sweater.
Wind of Sirocco (South-East) with its warm, moist air can give you muggy days that thanks to the pool will be more enjoyable and really perfect evenings, when he generally declines.
It rains very little, and generally it's just a short shower. It can of course also happen to have one or more cloudy and rainy days, but they are not the rule.
The trullo is not connected to the aqueduct. Hence the water is brought from the small tanker truck. It would be drinkable but since stored in different tanks before being used we prefer not to drink it.
For domestic use you can get bottled water or, as we suggest, you can fill the available jerry cans with water from the fountain in the near village (about 2 km). It's very good and fresh!
For not drinking water use (tap, shower, flush toilet, washing dishes, pool topping-up, watering plants, etc...), the trullo has a current water system (hot and cold) powered by two tanks for a total of 8.500 liters. Upon your arrival you will find enough water to keep going 3-4 days. Depending on the consumption you will have and how long you will stay, the tank needs to be refilled. To do that, just call the "water man" (the number will be given you on arrival), which will take care of it. Cost €25 per 5.000 liters (not included in the rental). Typically 5.000 liters last for 3-5 days with 6 people. How to manage the tanks will be explained you upon arrival. It's an extremely elementary operation. Like just to open and close a valve.
We are in the countryside, not in the jungle. So yes, there are animals but nothing dangerous. Here are the main: cicadas, crickets, millipedes, oniscos, flies, wasps and mosquitoes, geckos (of course), lizards and occasionally green lizards.
The swimming pool (illuminated at night) is at your complete private disposal.
The pool NEEDS TO BE TOPPED-UP at the end of the day with the provided garden hose up to the marked limit. for a correct operation of the filter pump. This will allow the water filtration system to work properly and deliver you always a clean pool.
The pool has a depth of 1,70m therefore PUT THE UTMOST ATTENTION TO CHILDREN if they cannot swim well. We suggest to make them alway wear inflatable armrests when they play close to the water.
There are many plants around the trullo. Every year we add some more to enrich the landscape and make it even more beautiful. Unfortunately due to the conformation of the ground, until the roots of the new plants will have not found their way into the underlying rocky ground, they require water to overcome the dry summer months. Feel free to water them a bit during your stay, they will be grateful.
