Come relax at my private, quiet, waterfront house, where you can swim, canoe, kayak, BBQ, pick mussels, clam, buy lobster straight from the sea, or anchor your small vessel overnight in my cove! Hiking and other beaches are just down the road. Shared bathroom.
This is an awesome house on the water that has been in my family for three generations. There is only one house with two rooms for rent, and lots of land and things to do so you can find peace and privacy here, unlike the other boarding houses or hotels in the area that are full of people. Most visitors who enjoy this are looking for some natural free open space to wander, artists or musicians looking for inspiration, and writers who need quiet time. Small groups of friends enjoy it too, with swimming and sunny long days to play. It is very historical, having the original graveyard of the family that built the house. It is also certified organic land. Although it is 250 years old, it has been well-maintained, very clean and a fun place to stay to explore. You can swim right in the cove here and there are other beaches and hiking trails nearby, as well as easy access to a market, the town and medical care if needed. You can pick fresh mussels and clams, and buy lobster straight off the boats in town. If you have a boat there is a boat launch in town and plenty of space to park your trailer on my land. There is a piano for anyone who enjoys playing music, and a desk for writers, with lots of books from philosophy to miser mystery. Also there is a ferry to Isle a Haut for those who want a long hike and a few hours drive to Acadia National Park. I have two house rabbits that live indoors, they are caged and potty trained and kept clean. They are very sweet but can be kept in my room if that makes you more comfortable.

The house and grounds are openly accessible, including use of the kitchen and clothes washer. The barns are completely off-limits. You have direct access to the cove for swimming, kayaking or canoeing and there is a boat launch for larger boats in town. You may anchor small vessels overnight in my cove if you coordinate with me properly, but keep in mind that this is a shallow tidal cove (6-8ft) so it is not good for large boats.

Owner lives in the house. There are four bedrooms, the rental bedroom is downstairs and the owner sleeps upstairs, so there is some privacy, but the house and bathrooms are shared.

As far as my house in Stonington, I have been visiting Stonington since I was ten years old and have a special place in my heart for the area. The house has been passed from my great Uncle to my father, who will pass it on to my sister and I in the future. I thought it would be fun to host travelers this summer while I am living up there and show them how wonderful this place is. None of the money from renting goes into my pocket, but will go instead toward further preservation of the house and property, which is a historic, original home, built in the mid 1700s, with artifacts and the graveyard of the founders on site! Come visit this summer and let me share this wonderful place with you!
