Absolutely terrible sorry for this Barbara but me and my family lost a day over bank holiday as your accommodation was not up to standards so we had to find another place

This is an apartment with extremely limited furnishings. There was no comfortable place to sit. There was no place to store your own things. Privacy was an issue because the only thing covering the front window was a dirty old sheet that only covered half of the window. The stairs leading up to the apartment are treacherous. Police had to be notified during our stay, due to a domestic violence issue going on in the apartment above. I would describe this apartment as more of a "flop house", and I recommend that you stay in a hotel instead. Although we never met our host in our 90 day stay, in our opinion, she has some stability issues.

First night no heating or hot water. Took 24 hours to get the boiler sorted. The stairs are treacherous and the whole stair well was smelly. The place is sparsely furnished and uncomfortable.

Barbara's place in Hawick has good and bad points. It is central in a fascinating town and suitable for those travelling light. The new kitchen is well stocked with utensils and cleaners, the place was clean and the double bed comfortable. Parking is on the one way street before the place, take your chances or go around again or a few hundred meters further on at a large free parking place. Wifi is available over the road at a cafe - when it is open. The third bed is a saggy fold up bed, better to put the mattress on the floor. The place is accurately described as on the second floor but beware the stairs are worn, narrow and steep, difficult with heavy luggage and those unfit or unsteady on their feet. Make sure you get good directions a few days before arrival for finding the place, parking, heating and rubbish disposal. A good budget venue for the young and fit travelling light.

Short, friendly, interesting, humorous, approachable, hard-working, enjoy a laugh.

I am self-employed (psychologist, counsellor, coach, consultant, portfolio entrepreneur, all round chief squirrel), work at home a lot in my loft (not always though). I got married to Hiram in February. I think we are getting divorced!!

I enjoy meeting new people and have had visitors now for 4 years. I am from the UK, but lived in NZ for 26 years, and a short spell in Australia, but it was a bit hot and humid for me! I am recently married (Feb 2013) to a Kenyan who lived in Italy for 8 years. I am a book fiend and my house has stacks of them, as well as my kindle! Although most are for my work. I just started book collecting too. So now I have an excuse for the obsessive collecting!

I enjoy a wide range of music, and am learning to play the violin! Next will be keyboard. I recently did a film-making course and looking forward to doing something with that! I love learning.

My mottos are:
Seize the day;
Seek the wisdom of the ages, but look at the world through the eyes of a child;
Think big thoughts, but relish small pleasures;
Forget about all the reasons why something may not work. You only need to find one good reason why it will

A lot I know! That's me, lots going on!
