Close to shopping, restaurants, parks, buses, and nightlife. You’ll love my place because of the comfy bed and the coziness. My place is good for snuggly duos (full size bed), solo adventurers, and business travelers. (Need more room to stretch out? I have a second room with queen bed listed as well.) I like meeting new folks. Whether you prefer solitude or seek conversation, this is a quiet environment where you can relax. I also offer fully-clothed bodywork sessions by appointment.
NOTE: The room configuration and listing have changed. I think for the better. Some folks said the room was a little tight so the extras got moved to the diningroom which you welcome to share. There may be other guests from the 2nd room sharing the bathroom and common spaces as well. The guests who have stayed in this room have commented that it was the best sleep ever on the firm full-size bed with a 3" memory foam top. The room is quiet and the house is not terribly close to the street. There is a dual window fan that keeps the room cool in the heat and a great heater should the furnace heat be inadequate for you. I aim to maintain just about 69-72 F, most times of the year. During extreme heat, leaving the door to your room open for cross breeze will help keep it cooler. The loveseat is nice for lounging but won't be comfortable for sleeping. ***There is a mini-fridge with some early morning goodies and microwave available in the guest area of the kitchen and the coffee is ready by about 6am. If you are up earlier than that you are welcome to turn on the pot if it is not already brewing. I set it up at night and it is on a timer so you don't miss your morning Joe. If tea is your preference, there is an electric pot next to the stove for heating water.
Since I generally have an abundance of homegrown greens and veggies, I am happy to share. If you need to use other kitchen items, we can cover that when you book your stay. I do provide filtered water for you. Generally, there is a an additional $5 fee for kitchen meal cooking use. Pots, pans and tableware are available. It is expected that everyone cleans up after themselves. Wipe spills, put dishes in the dishwasher or hand wash and drain on the drying pad.

You are welcome to venture to the outside yard areas and browse the blueberries. The garden has gotten a slow start this year, but will yield well into the fall and winter I'm sure. You are welcome to sit in the yard or even pull some weeds if you are inspired! The house is small so consideration is key. If you would like to listen to music or watch movies on your computer after 10 pm please use earbuds for your music. I'm usually up early, and quietly brewing coffee and journaling or writing. You are welcome to visit the Studio or schedule a session to get rid of some traveler's kinks or stress. I am usually around, but kindly ask that I am not disturbed if I am with a client in the Studio or Cottage. I may be in and out carting folks around Tacoma. In the event that you need to do a quick load of wash in a rush, there is a washer and dryer as well as an ironing area. I ask a small $4 per load donation.
If you hear whoops or cheers, the Hawks may be playing a game and I am a fan. I try to keep it in control but sometimes just have to make some noise!

I enjoy chatting and learning about people, where they are from and where they are headed. If you see me sitting in my chair working on something, feel free to come and chat, watch or try your hand at a new thing. Life is about sharing experiences to make life richer and more delicious. If you want to be secluded and quiet, that's fine too. I aim to make this a pleasant stay for you. If you are traveling for business, I do have wireless. Sadly, the fax machine and wireless printing are not working since Windows 10 upgrade but working on it. There may be other travelers here.

In the summer, as with other cities, there is ongoing roadwork and ramp closures near my home so if you like I can give you local directions to miss the worst of the congestion for your arrival.
Tacoma has a rich history and many beautifully restored buildings and homes. The downtown business core is growing all the time with independent small business, which is Tacoma's focus for keeping it local. We also are up to the minute tech with the first 3D printing lab (Fab lab)where you can go and rent time to print your own design. Something to have fun with! I assembled several informational flyers from local auto rental agencies to give ideas of things to do and see in the area, and they will be on the bookcase for your browsing. There's a great Farmer's Market downtown every Thursday if you are so inclined.

As someone who has spent the majority of my life in service to others both in the beauty industry and the natural health field, my passion is people and wanting them to feel great inside and outside and have the most enjoyable experiences throughout their lives. I love growing my own food and sharing recipes and health tips. I believe in vegetables, butter and enjoy my meats. I am a true Northwest Native having my early years in the Seattle area and northward and when the sprawl kept crawling, I left for Tacoma and have loved it for the last 12 years, making it my home. I like to take long road trips to see the landscape of other states and have friends in most states that I can visit or of course find a bed through AirBnb. Many evenings will find me in my chair doing finish work on items created on my antique sockknitting machines or final touches on hand knit or crochet items or perhaps spinning while I watch a few episodes of favorite shows or listen to my recording of classes to keep up on what's new in my field. I love reading old books that have wisdom and perspective from times past. My idea for hosting came from wanting to slow down a bit and enjoy life. Spending hours in traffic creates too much cortisol and shortens the time I have to enjoy things that really make me happy.
I find that if I can create something each day it feeds my soul. Figuring out new designs and creating artwork is almost as good as chocolate. Not quite, so I sometimes enjoy them together. Cooking is a form of creation as well and I excel at whipping up great meals and snacks. My motto: Be kind, be sincere and educate, empower and inspire others to find their own special gifts and discover how they were meant to fit in the world.
