Carroll's place is an ideal spot for a restful retreat. Every part of my stay was perfect.
When I arrived, I'd been driving through storms for hours and it was still pouring. Carroll greeted me with a smile and kindly helped me with my bag, ensuring that I safely got to the entrance to the apartment in the back of the house, all in the driving rain!
Once inside, Carroll left me to my privacy and I was pleased to find several fresh, tasty small muffins in the kitchen that were a welcome treat after being on the road most of the day.
The space itself is cozy and peaceful with more than enough room to store luggage and spread out. The office space is ideal with a large desk, plenty of room, and a view of the outdoors through sliding glass doors. The living room is also a good size with the comfiest leather chair and ottoman you'll ever sink into. The entire apartment was immaculate.
One of the attractions to this space was that it has a full kitchen and I enjoyed be able to cook meals on the stove and heat in the microwave, store food in the full size fridge, and make shakes in the blender. There are pots and pans as well as plenty of plates, bowls, cups/mugs, and glasses. In addition to some silverware, there are also plenty of disposable utensils.
The bathroom is also a nice size with fantastic water pressure and plenty of space to place and use essentials like a blow dryer, flat iron, or curling iron. There was a blow dryer provided in the bathroom closet. There were also more than enough towels and wash cloths.
Knowing that I was in town for business reasons, Audra kindly offered an iron in the even that I needed it.
The view from the back patio at Carroll's place is just as lovely as described in the post as well as by other guests. With tons of mature trees surrounding the property, it's a peaceful place to rest and on both nights of my stay deer emerged from the woods to openly graze on the grass. There are plenty of chairs perfect for settling in with a glass of wine or cozying up with a book or magazine while enjoying the view and serene setting.
Carroll and Audra made themselves available as needed but extend as much privacy as any guest wants. They were a pleasure to chat with, and were quickly responsive to messages.
While the spot is secluded, it is a short drive to some local wineries and such, and only about 30 minutes to Charlottesville.
I will most definitely return to this Airbnb any time that I find myself traveling to the area.
