Top o’ the Mountain is the domain of whitetail deer, hawks, owls, other diverse bird life and small mammals. No farm stock is present to disturb the peaceful tranquility of this artist- and landscape architect-designed retreat, snuggled at the end of a 1,000-foot forested, well-graveled private lane. The home is ideally located equidistant from two popular state parks, Devil’s Den State Park and Lake Fort Smith State Park, each of which have resident park rangers, visitors’ centers, hiking, swimming, and interpretive programs.
Visitors should be aware that the fields and forests of NW Arkansas, like much of forested America, are tick and insect habitat and can be uncomfortable for people with allergies during certain seasons. Precautions should be taken. Please understand we can not be held responsible for a person's allergies or insect bites anywhere on the property.
Located just outside the historic resort village of Winslow, Arkansas, Top o’ the Mountain is just uphill one mile from the Winslow U.S. Post Office, a seasonal Saturday morning farmers’ market, tourist train stop, city museum, the village park, and a nearby gas station/grocery. The owner's grandfather purchased and named Top o' the Mountain in the mid-1920s, putting the TOM label on early farm products from eggs and canned produce to nursery stock. Headwaters of the West Fork of the White River originate at the unique downtown Winslow railroad tunnel, still in use and dating from the late 1800's. It is the only RR tunnel in the state of Arkansas and is within 1/2 mile of Top o' the Mountain. The house and lawn are totally secluded in the woods so be prepared for forest isolation and privacy.
