The flat has its own entrance from a shared court yard which leads you in to private space.
I have lived at Newhall since 1998 and guests have been coming to our self-catering cottages since 2001, many visitors returning year after year. I live with my family, and two very entertaining working cocker spaniels, in the main house and we have recently started diversifying into using the Estate grounds for weddings and other events to supplement its main function as a sheep farm.
My main passion is gardening and you will find me in the two acre walled garden located in front of the Cottage at some point each day. I grow lots of fruit and veg for our own use but also grow flowers for cutting and am a member of the Flowers From the Farm network. I open the garden under Scotland’s Gardens each year and also host a number of private garden tours.
Life on the Estate is never boring! There is always something happening or needing attention – it certainly keeps us on our toes.
We are situated about 12 miles south of Edinburgh (approx. 25 minute drive) and I think we offer a good balance of being in the country but with access to the City, I certainly find that balance suits me.
