The Bee Inn is a custom natural building featuring 2 bedrooms, a rustic kitchen, spacious living room, and a spectacular forest/garden setting. You'll appreciate the rustic lodge aesthetic within reach of town, with comfortable luxury bedding and easy access to all that Nelson has to offer.
The building is made from local timbers and clay bricks made on site, with a living roof, passive and active solar heating, and natural plaster throughout.
The Bee Inn is located on a forested slope overlooking Kootenay Lake. Across the driveway is another house on the same property, the Hillhouse Inn. You will enjoy the peace and scenery of a truly unique wilderness cabin with all the convenience of town. There is an acre of developed garden below the houses, and millions of acres of woods with seasonal trails behind. Public transportation is available approximately 1km down the hill from the Hillhouse. The wood-fired sauna (shared with the Hillhouse) is the perfect way to relax after a day of exploring, or just to cap off a tranquil day in the gardens.
Zugang für Gäste
Guests have full access to the entire house. Please note that the sauna and grounds are shared with travellers staying at the Hillhouse, located across the driveway from the Bee Inn. Please be respectful of each other to make the most of your stay!
There is a greenhouse built into the Bee Inn, which we may need to access as part of our ongoing food farming operation. You will also likely see our gardener and/or handyperson taking care of things around the property.

My husband and I built our beautiful home and worked to establish the gardens 18 years ago. Since he passed away, in 2008, I have continued to pursue our dream of creating a sustainable home full of peace, laughter, and abundance. The Hillhouse Inn is my way of sharing our vision with others. I hope you will be inspired to learn more about permaculture and sustainable living once you have seen our place. I also love to ski, play music, and make fantastic food to share from my garden and other local sources.
