After a lot of research and trawling of web sites we booked this lovely Airbnb holiday property in Pesada, Kefalonia. The stress of an early Gatwick departure evaporated as we sat in the olive grove with a cool drink. Nothing but the distant sound of goats bells, the odd car along the lane and a few far away cockerels. Our host, Maria, was both hospitable and helpful in making suggestions on where to visit. All the beaches in the immediate area were perfect and as we were there in early September, pleasantly uncrowded. It was our best holiday in memory. Thank you Maria!
On practical terms this is a well constructed building finished earlier this year. The shower, fridge and single gas ring are perfectly adequate for two people on holiday. It really does sit within a huge olive tree plantation with many trees that must be 3-400 years old. It is within easy reach of several excellent beaches and some great tavernas. We shall definitely rebook for next year.
There is an elephant in the room that no decent review can ignore. Our first sight on driving through the gate is that there is a 20 foot shipping container positioned about 10 metres from the property. Whilst it did rather spoil the view in one direction down through the olive trees, by the time we had been there 24 hours we were so relaxed and did not even notice it! One has to remember that this is a working olive plantation and the container is a secure store for equipment.
