Die Unterkunft
We encourage music in the Jam Room!

Your private sectioned-off space has two queen beds, two huge bean bags, a couch, and a single day bed. Your area is upstairs from your private bathroom which has a deep tub and separate shower, and both areas are closed-off from the rest of the house. If your group is larger, just inquire for a more detailed conversation. However, there is only one group staying at a time.

This is a rugged stay. You must drive 300 yards through a river to reach the Cave. Don't be intimidated about the river crossing, the bottom is Bedrock and solid. Then pass through some private gates--just lift the chain and close the gate behind you--they are NOT locked. This stay is on a working farm and animals live here, like the super cuddly cats who are present inside and outside our home. If you have cat allergies, please bring your medicine.

Please enjoy hiking on top of the Cave to view the surrounding desert, the stars, or the sunrise. You also have a microwave, mini fridge, and drip coffee-maker in your room. Shared BBQ and kitchen with all the amenities. Grant's home is run on hydroelectricity so energy is limited. For this reason, hairdryers are not permitted, and internet is limited to what you can pick-up on Verizon in the kitchen. Plan to "unplug" and take-in the surrounding tranquility.

Liquor stores in Utah are closed on Sundays. Convenience stores are in the closest town of Boulder which is 8 miles from the homestead. Stores close as early as 5 pm, close Sundays, and have only basic items. There are 3 restaurants: Burr Trail Grill, Hell's Backbone Grill, and Sweetwater Kitchen, which all have excellent food, operate with unpredictable hours, and are full when open. There is also a coffee cafe shop called The Outpost that has incredible local gifts, drinks & bites, and internet. For breakfast, there is a turquoise food truck in Museum parking lot.

Grant is a long-time homesteader located in southern Utah. Land activist, artist, farmer, lover-of-music and father, he blasted and carved his incredible sculpture house while raising his family. Originally, Grant learned to use dynamite gigging as a uranium miner during the short-lived, 2nd uranium boom in southern Utah in his early 20's. He muses that the rock house is like living inside of a sculpture in the carved-out space. Enthusiastic about pretty much everything, Grant loves to share his knowledge of the area and life stories over a beer or cup of coffee, and will certainly point you to some beautiful places.
