I wasn't sure what we'd fine at the Loon's Nest, but what we did find was an incredibly tranquil setting on the shore of Lake Superior. If you are looking for a place to unwind, this is it.
The Loon's Nest is as described. Brian and Catharine communicate easily and quickly and the house is decorated very nicely. All of the items you need are there including many seasonings. However, and this is likely just a preference, you should bring you own coffee. But if you like tea, you are set.
You're only about 25 miles east of the Pigeon River Border Crossing and about a 10-15 minute drive once you turn from Hwy 61. And that's not a criticism at all - we enjoyed it every time because you see Beaver Dams, Partridge, Bears, Deer and who knows what else. We were always driving slow so we would not miss a thing.
You will be greeted by an incredibly friendly Chipmunk. We viewed a Black Bear in the yard from the hot tub during a rainy day. Deer are common, too.
You're about 45 minutes from Thunder Bay, but it's an easy drive. Next time back, I doubt we leave the Nest more than a time or two. It's that peaceful and in the morning, a walk down the road east just might give you the chance to see a young Black Bear crossing the road. And he's not a threat at all.
Highly, highly recommend the Loon's Nest.
