A bit of history, imagination and a lot of craftsmanship went into building this cozy one room/one bath cabin on the same acreage as the original Honey Creek School.
Enjoy cozy country comfort at the cabin at Honey Creek

Der Wohnraum

The cabin was constructed with a 1890's theme.
A step back in time with a few "necessities" like cable TV, a kitchen and, oh yes and a full bath with running water!!!

The kitchen has a microwave although most people prefer to cook on the grill or fire grate. There are grilling utensils and grill baskets There is also a small cube refrigerator, coffee maker, toaster, a set of dishes, silverware, dish soap and paper towels and sponges

The double bed will have line dried sheets, pillows and a quilt and blanket
We have a good supply of bath towels in the full bathroom.

There is a loveseat and a desk near the TV area and a large front porch with table and chairs. The firepit is ready to light, a lighter is in the kitchen and lots of firewood out back.

Kick back, relax and enjoy!

Please let us know when you plan to arrive. Anytime after 2 PM is fine. We'll be watching for you.

Checkout time is 11 am. Sometimes Jerry had to mow and he doesn't like to do it when you are here. After all... didn't you come for peace and quiet ?

For nights under the stars, there is a campfire pit with a grill grate that fits over the fire pit for cooking out, we also have grill baskets, firewood and starter. An old dirt road for a walk in the country. And Honey Creek, once well known for bees, is nearby if you want to explore.

Great place to stay! We loved the dark skies for star gazing. Jerry was helpful and friendly. The cabin is very cozy with great chairs for rocking on the porch.

This cabin is beautiful and wonderful! My husband and I wanted a little getaway weekend from the city. It was perfectly quiet and lovely. We enjoyed some wonderful BBQ at the BBQ place in Auburn and some walking around in Brownville. We can't wait to come back again!

This cabin was absolutely absolutely phenomenal. I mean, i knew what I was getting myself into, the reviews were great and i heard Jerry was a great host, but until you are actually there, it was an amazing experience. I have been to a lot of cabins and this absolutely took the cake. A extremely cozy country cabin with corn surrounding the property that is even taller then i am. A view of the remodeled one room school house was a site to behold, and we even got a bonus tour of his home / school house which blew me away on his craftsmanship on how he preserved a lot of things like the old chalkboard and even the bell he ran in to ring while we were walking back up to the cabin. Let me just say Jerry was so down to earth, great guy we could talk to forever, and if you needed anything he was there. He supplied us with ice sometimes twice a day and encouraged us to text him if we needed anything. The cabin was amazing, so kept up and spotless. The detail that went into the cabin, the ceiling, the little shelves here and there the farm house sinks, the country lights on the walls, the decorations were incredible and amazing. The bathroom was incredible with the huge claw foot tub and the toilet and sink. Not every cabin has those features and this was amazing. Jerry had a whole shed of wood for us to use on our fire and it burned very well. And you can see that a whole lot of love went into building everything, even the fire pit was built great. I can say enough amazing things about this place and we will be back!

The cabin was just what we wanted to get away for awhile. Jerry made sure we had everything we needed and even found fresh veggies for us from a friend in town. It was a great place for our dog Lacey. She could run and play and get into all kinds of new scents. She misses the farm life already and is waiting by the back door to be taken back to Jerry's again. We would definitely go again and recommend it to anyone who is looking for a quiet spot to relax and recharge. Sandie & Doug Simpson

Jerry's place is surrounded by sounds of nature --- birds, tree frogs, locusts, and more (and almost no traffic sounds). On a clear night, stars are amazing. Fields of corn and soybeans added to the view of large shade trees and ample yard space. Rain on the metal roof during one night was soothing and it was actually fun to hear the thunder and see the lightning flashes. We read, walked, visited nearby interesting places, and relaxed. Everything we needed was available --- just brought or went out for our own food. A nice quiet getaway.

Jerry and Linda (this is Linda's photo) had a great time bringing back the 1880's to our cabin and schoolhouse. We love to meet other travelers almost as much as we enjoy traveling. Jerry is your "go to guy" for local information. He has lived in Nebraska all of his life. He will be around to greet you and have a campfire ready.

A perfect trip for me is "living local" Hope you like the same, there is lots to show you around here.
