Costa Rica has recently started to limit ATM cash withdrawals to 100 dollars per day. (You can get 200 if you have more than one card or traveler. This make your travels problematic. A lot of tours require cash and we of coarse need cash for your room balance and meals here at Casa Artistica . It might be a good idea to hide some cash in different places in your luggage and carry on so you can play seamlessly; instead of running to the bank frequently.
If you drink alcohol or like a good chocolate bar, you will want to stop at the duty free store in the baggage claim area after clearing immigration. They will box up your goodies (no limit) while you wait for your bags. It is MUCH cheaper than getting something later!
Pack a flashlight.
Please try to arrive in the afternoon so you can settled in and enjoy the pool and sunset. It is no fun to find us after dark and we don’t like to send out a search party. Always allow more time than you think. Driving distances are deceiving.
If you make time to bring up a few groceries you can save yourself another trip to town. There is a small well stocked store in Dominical. The entrance is on your left after you cross the River Baru. The BCR bank and ATM is also in the same plaza.
Don’t depend on GPS, use the visual landmarks provided in the directions. I.e. “If you get to the gas station you have gone too far”
