Also on the property is a yurt than Chris and Nickie lived in before the house was completed. This yurt area is now occupied by a caretaker who takes care of the vineyard. We ask that you respect their privacy.
Zugang für Gäste
Guests can access the property within the tall fence, which encloses about 15 acres of woods and vineyard land. However, we ask that guests respect the privacy of the caretaker and stay away from the yurt clearing.
In the main house, guests have access to all areas except the basement, where winery equipment and wine are stored, and some storage areas, which are locked. Guests may use all appliances and amenities in the house, including the fully equipped kitchen. There are some display items that should not be used, and these are labeled as such. Guests can also relax, dine, and enjoy the view on the huge porch encircling the entire house.

Wine and Wine Tasting. Terragena is a working vineyard and winery. If you would like to explore our handcrafted wines, please consider scheduling a tasting by contacting us. Our tasting fee is $10 per person (or per tasting, if sharing a tasting) to taste all of our available wines. We gladly credit this fee towards the purchase of two or more bottles of our wine. All tastings include an optional vineyard and winery tour. Houseguests receive a 5% discount on all wine purchased during their stay, on top of any other discounts. Our allocation list members receive an additional 10% off all wine purchases, and there is a 10% discount on all cases of wine as well. You can purchase Terragena wines from us during your stay or on our website (search for terragenavineyard).
Weitere wichtige Infos
Our house is a bit out of the way; that's the whole point for us. You will likely want to go grocery shopping before getting up to the house. Also, please be very careful on the local roads. Many of them are winding and have steep drop-offs. We are located approximately 30 minutes from the nearest towns and 25 minutes from the Avenue of the Giants.
Guests need to schedule a check-in time with us as well as a check-out time. Due to the remoteness of the location and information you need to know about our off-grid systems, we will meet you at the house to check you in and out. For that reason, we will charge a late check in fee of $25 after 8pm, which increases to $50 after 10pm, unless you have prearranged late check in with us and we have agreed to it. Please provide us a cell phone number that we can use to reach you, and please respond to our communications. If someone in your party will be arriving before you, please let us know that person's name and a way to reach them (e.g., cell phone number). Also, please do not have guests who are not staying at the house on the property without reserved guests accompanying them.
Of course, we expect guests to keep the house in good shape. We'll clean before and after your stay, and we know that our hand-me-down furniture is not in perfect condition. Please let us know right away about any problems you encounter or damage that occurs. Also, we hope that guests enjoy the natural scenery and respect it by leaving it as clean as it was when they arrived. That is, please do not litter or dump any unnatural chemicals on the ground or in the water. Please also do not shoot firearms or hunt on our property.
We also ask guests to be eco-conscious. We recycle and compost (no meat scraps please so that our compost doesn't attract scavengers). We ask that you turn off lights, electronics, and appliances when not in use and limit your use of energy-intensive appliances such as hair dryers and the microwave. We are off-grid and we attempt to run primarily on solar power, though we do have a backup generator. Please also do not flush trash or feminine hygiene products, as these are not good for our septic system.
We are pet-friendly, and we welcome your well-behaved animals. We charge a fully refundable $500 pet/damage deposit. This "deposit" is is simply reserved by AirBnB and will only be charged if there is damage. However, please keep your pet from chewing on or otherwise damaging furniture, carpets, etc. Please do not allow your pet to simply roam free. Please also be mindful that there are predators in the nearby woods, so pets should be inside at night and should, like you, stay within the fence at all times.
We also welcome families with children, but we do not provide any special equipment or protections for young children. The house is not "child-proofed," and we expect that families will supervise children who stay at the vineyard.
Smoking is not allowed indoors, and we expect guests who smoke outside to take great care to fully extinguish cigarettes and be mindful of ashes to avoid wildfire risk.
Finally, when considering the "events or parties allowed" option, we selected "no" because we expect that guests will not throw large parties or events without specifically contacting us about the event first. Of course, we welcome small celebrations and groups. If you have questions, please feel free to contact us directly.
