Ronald Scheer (Dutch) and Joan Kelly (Irish) have lived in Kampala together now for over 8 years. They have an IT company and outsource work mainly from Europe and the US.
Joan was born in Dublin and arrived the first time in Africa helping out for an Irish NGO during the Rwanda genocide in 1996.
Ronald was born in Tristan da Cunha and lived for 10 years in Africa before moving to the Netherlands where he studied Economics and Computer Science. He then worked internationaly for Philips, Digital Equipment, Compaq and HP before starting his own IT company in Netherlands in 2002 and arrived via this company for the first time in Uganda in 2005.
Both of them have very opposite talents and likes which lends to a good combination. Joan is a great singer, great in the hospitality life and loves working with people. She is also President of the Irish Society in Uganda and Chair of the Board of Hospice Africa Uganda.
Ronald on the other-hand loves exploring nature and trying out new technical things. Uganda is great for this, it gave him the opportunity to build a boat, infinity pool, lodges, enhancing the wetlands, setting up hiking and cycling tracks etc... While doing this he was also able in transferring the knowledge to local Ugandans which gives them new business opportunities and skills.
