Shannon's place is simple but exactly what I needed for my business travel. If you are looking for the hustle-bustle of Midtown as a first-time visitor to NYC, then you might find this a bit tame, but for those who know the city and avoid Times Square at all costs, this is perfect.
The proximity to Central Park was great - I brought my running shoes and managed to get a little exercise in before my meetings got underway. The unit is on the same street as the Dakota Building and the John Lennon memorial ("Strawberry Fields") is just inside the Park entrance at the end of the street.
Lincoln Center is a short walk down Columbus Ave.
There are two subway lines very close at hand that both go to other stations where you can easily connect to other trains.
The UWS is lovely and has lots of restaurants of varying costs (from Shake Shack to high-end French) within walking distance of the unit. That said, it is mostly quiet in the evenings.
There are grocery, drugstores, Starbucks (and other coffee joints/bakeries) and bodegas all within a few minutes walk.
Make sure you try the cheesecake at the Magnolia bakery down the street - AMAZING.
If you enjoy walking, you can cross the Park to 5th Avenue and The Met.
The unit was surprisingly quiet - no noise at all from neighbours and aside from the usual NYC street noise (which was off in the distance.) It was great for working on my laptop.
Shannon went out of her way to accommodate me getting the keys upon my arrival, which was really appreciated as I had a dinner to attend within hours of landing (thanks again, Shannon!)
It took me a bit to figure out the TV (even with Shannon's thoughtful instructions), but I got there in the end!
Everything was clean and thoughtfully arranged upon my arrval.
I will definitely consider staying here again on my future business travels.
