“The Gatineau Park is a national park. It offers lakes for swimming, trails for walking, hiking, skiing, mountain biking. The Parkways within the park are turned over to cyclists on Sundays, just don't tell them it isn't theirs the rest of the time. Serious triathletes train here (swimming in Meech Lake), as do leasure cyclists wanting a hilly challenge. Runners train with a whistle to ward off the occasionnal bear and cub or insistant Canada geese. The old Carbide Mill ruinsat Meech Lake are as close as you can get to a nude beach in Ottawa...”

“The most beautiful parc around. You need private transportation. There are plenty of trails you could enjoy, the closest one starts in the little quint village of Old Chelsea, 30 minutes drive maximum from here.”

“Easy 2.1km hike around the green... Pink Lake. It's a great way to see Gatineau Park if you're looking for something short and sweet. Trail is meticulously maintained, with wooden boardwalks and stairs in some places. This trail can get pretty busy during "peak times" on weekends; I'd aim to go early in the morning or late afternoon.”

“Easy trail that can be extended to go to the Mackenzie King Estate, which we recommend. Bring a lunch and sit around the Estate, they have gorgeous gardens and ruins. ”
