“From the centre of Chamonix, a 20 minutes ride with the Aiguille du Midi cable car takes you to the gateway of High Mountain at a height of 3,842 m. From its height of 3,777m, the Aiguille du Midi and its laid-out terraces offer a 360° view of all the French, Swiss and Italian Alps. A lift brings you to the summit terrace at 3,842m, where you will have a clear view of Mont Blanc.”

“The amazing landmark that makes Geneva special, has got to be the 140m high jet d'eau (water fountain). Extrait from Know-it-all passport®: In 1886, a company located at the end of the lake used to pump and distribute water under pressure for craftsmen’s machines. Since there was little need in the evening, they let the pressure escape through a small hole on one extremity at La Coulouvrenière, resulting in a water fountain of a few meters. In 1891, the City of Geneva decided to install the Jet d’Eau where it is today, on the Rade, to celebrate Switzerland’s 600th anniversary. To project half a cubic meter of water per second up to 140 meters high requires two powerful groups of motor pumps, representing a global weight of over 16 tons and a total power of close to 1,000 kilowatts, fed by an electric tension of 2,400 volts. The water is drawn in a circular water-pump and is directed towards an exit pipe where the speed reaches 200 km/h (130 miles per hour).”

Natural Feature
“As you step away from the Annecy Old Town and you stroll along the main canal, the pathway will take you towards the Lac d Annecy (Lake Annecy). This is the third largest lake in France, so bring your camera, because the view is quite impressive! There are plenty of activities to choose from. You can hire a motor boat, or you can choose to get on a pedal boat and take your time relaxing whilst sunbathing in the French sunshine. Alternatively, you can choose to spend some time in the beautiful Jardins de l’Europe (Gardens of Europe). Where else you can relax at the 18th century gardens with a view over a beautiful lake and the spectacular backdrop of the mountain range. It is stunning! These days, the gardens feature a much smaller number of original plants; thus allowing for a clearer view of the lake. Win-win situation here. If you are travelling to Annecy with kids, then this will be a great place for you to stretch your legs too. The park has an extensive grassy area for kids to loose some energy and there is also a kids play park with a bunch of slides, swings and other funky toys to play with.”

Beach
“One of the most popular spots in Geneva is the Bains des Pâquis, an artificial peninsula surrounded by a lively beach that jets into the lake near Pâquis district (Rive Droite). It’s scenery is unmistakable due to the lighthouse at the end. Beach, which is very popular during hot summer days, has more than sufficient room to lie down and sunbathe, as well as easy access to the water. A magnificent view over the lake and the Jet d’Eau makes it a must place to visit. Paquis baths (Bains des Pâquis) are essentially two saunas, hammam and turkish baths; together with restaurant providing great spot for rejuvenation.”

Kirche
“We always take our guests to climb the stairs of the cathedral to admire the 360º view of Geneva. Extrait from Know-it-all passport®: 12th century structure includes an eclectic mix of styles. It is best known as the adopted home church of John Calvin, one of the leaders of the Protestant Reformation. Inside the church is a wooden chair used by Calvin. Note: Fantastic 360° view of Geneva and surrounding mountains from the top. Climb up the 153 stairs, revel in the magnificent views along the way and discover the inner workings of this historical landmark. If you can stand loud noises, then make sure you are at the top on the hour so you can hear at close-hand the bells ring. There are 2 towers, North and South. Note: Please respect the red light/green light system on some of the narrow spiral stairs that allow traffic flow with a one-way system. Price to climb up the tower: Fr. 5.-/adult, Fr. 2.-/child age 6-16. Open October through May 10h-17h30 (Sunday from 12h), June through September 9h30-18h30, Saturday till 17h, Sunday 12h-18h30.”

Transportation
“Home to the UN since 1966, the Palais des Nations was built between 1929 and 1936 to house the now-defunct League of Nations. Visits are by guided tour (bring photo ID; no reservation required for groups of less than 15 people) and include a one-hour tour of the building and entry to the surrounding 46-hectare park, generously peppered with century-old trees and peacocks. Spot the grey monument coated with heat-resistant titanium, donated by the USSR to commemorate the conquest of space.”

Kunstmuseum
“The Museum of Art and History is the city's largest and one of its most important institutions. The museum is housed within a building designed by Marc Camoletti and constructed from 1903 to 1910; the building's exhibition space covers four floors and 7,000m². the building itself is a treasure with an inner courtyard, and a façade featuring sculptures by Paul Amlehn and a triangular gable with an allegorical depiction of the arts. In a frieze on the upper section of the façade, there are the names of Genevan artists. The collections are divided into thematic categories focusing on Applied Arts, Fine Art, and archaeology. There is an art section in the museum with paintings from the middle ages to the 20th century including works by Konrad Witz, Rembrandt, Modigliani, and Rodin. An Applied Arts section has Byzantine art, medieval weapons, silverware and historic musical instruments among the collection. Part of the museum has been turned into the 17th century interior of the Lower Castle Zizers complete with wood paneling and furniture. In the archaeology, the section pieces from prehistoric Europe, ancient Egypt, African, Greek, and Roman cultures. Other interesting pieces in the collection are medieval stained glass, 12th-century armor, Swiss watches, and Greek vases.”
