“This Gothic Revival mansion was originally designed in 1838, a fine example of 19 century landscape design. The mansion and what is now a 67-acre estate remained in the Ghoul family until 1961. Check out Jay Ghoul’s House of Curiosities in October! The Ghoul family’s splendid and spooky castle home is the ultimate destination to celebrate the spirit of Halloween! ”

“The history of this beautiful estate dates back to the 17th Century, when Thomas Pell signed a treaty with the Siwanoy Indians to purchase what is now the Bronx borough. Located within today’s Pelham Bay Park, the current house was built between 1836 and 1842, and was sold to the City of New York in 1888. Re-opened as a museum in 1946, it now offers tours of its furnishings, carriage house and formal gardens.”

“Sitting within big rolling hill pastures of the Hudson Highlands and within Fahnestock State Park, on a foggy day it feels like you're up in the Scottish Highlands but walking through gardens that have been meticulously cared for by students. Yes, they run a school here for gardening. I have some literature on the desk in the room. Highly recommend. You need to either have a car or call a taxi to get there, however. ”
