“A large park just a few blocks from the Airbnb. Now a local hangout for dog walks and warm-weather picnics, the park used to be an army camp during the Civil War and has a rich history. On good-weather Sundays there is a drum circle in the upper park - starts around 3pm.”

“Modern and always changing, this museum isn't always on a top 5 list of the National Mall's exhibits, but is a real cool modern gem. Look for the visiting exhibits for ideas. Come and spend an hour and then move on. No need to spend a whole day. ”

“This free memorial to the victims of the 9-11 attack on the Pentagon is a very special place. The memorial itself is thoughtfully planned with special meaning built in to its design. This is my favorite place in D.C. for reflection and peace and quiet when needed. Recommend visiting at dusk. ”

Skulpturengarten
“From mid-May to late August, locals walk down to the Mall on Fridays after work to enjoy live outdoor jazz in the sculpture garden. Arrive early (jazz is from 5:00-8:30pm), grab a spot on the ledge of the fountain so you can dip your feet in, and get a pitcher of sangria. Larger groups can bring blankets and set up picnics in the grass (BYO food is allowed but the guards will check bags for alcohol).”

Garten
“A hidden gem with magnificent gardens. Secluded and lush, the grounds of this beautiful park have been described as being like the Secret Garden and it’s no surprise why: Manicured greenery, winding pathways and classical fountains comprise a 27-acre historic park that sits atop the highest hill in Georgetown. An adjacent museum specializes in Byzantine and Pre-Columbian art. There's a season pass in the front hall table for our guests to use.”
