I genuinely couldn't recommend Ben's place highly enough. Firstly, the design is incredible. It has even won an award! Ben designed the whole place himself and it's seriously cool - everything stylishly done and well thought out. Our rooms were really clean, comfortable beds and both with their own bathroom. Everything we needed like towels etc was left out. He was such a gracious and friendly host. He made us feel really welcome, was great company and a pleasure to stay with. The communication was fantastic and everything we needed was sent in a clear and concise email. The neighbourhood was quiet and its only a short walk to town. In summary - stay here!

Ben was a great host, very accommodating and helpful both during our stay and while we were booking. His home is beautiful and very spacious with plenty of room for a group of friends to stay. We walked everywhere as it was in easy distance (25 mins to city center/20 to train station). Would love to stay there again.

Ben is a very lovely host, my room was very comfortable and the bathroom facilities were excellent. The chapel is very beatiful and it was located very well for the centre of town. I would try and book again on my return to York !

An all too short stay with Ben in his delightfully modern converted Chapel. Everything about our stay was welcoming and relaxing. We all fell in love with Presley and came home with some exciting ideas about how to update our homes. We hope to visit again.

What a glorious place to stay in York! Such a short and easy walk to all of the famous sites, restaurants and bakeries of York, and yet extraordinarily peaceful and calm at Ben's Eco Chapel. I arrived fresh off the plane from LA, and was a bit jet lagged - I found the bed and room so comfortable and peaceful that I slept for 12 hours straight. Same for the 2nd night. Ben's home is beautiful, well curated and he is such a fantastic host. Excellent recommendations for food, and easy directions on how to get to things in town. Ben takes great care of his place - ensuring safety and security as well as comfort. Not to mention Presley the Pup is the most well-behaved dog I think I have ever met, and will never deny the opportunity for a belly rub! If you're looking for a peaceful retreat after a full day's exploration of York - look no further, this is it! Not to mention if I someday renovate my own space, I will certainly fashion the bathroom after this one. Gorgeous shower and that bathtub!! Thanks Ben for everything!

Ben's place was really lovely, as is Ben - very welcoming and relaxed. I was in York for work with evenings buys too, so didn't have the chance to chill out in his lovely open plan living room, which was awesome. The room I stayed in was very comfortable with a cool walk-in shower in the en suite bathroom. I couldn't have hoped to stumble across a nicer Airbnb place. Hoping I'll have an excuse to come back for pleasure and would definitely return to Ben's if I do! Would recommend to anyone.

Jelle is an amazing host! This house is the perfect location in York, walking distance from lots of things to do, and right next to the Ouse River. The house is warm, clean, and spacious, and Jelle provides you with lots of information on York upon arrival. Jelle helped my family and I settle in and was so friendly. Would definitely recommend a stay at his house or house boat to anyone visiting York.

We had a relaxing and peaceful stay in York. The house is in a fantastic location and it is really quiet despite being so close to the city centre. Toby, Jelle and Bella were lovely and helpful, especially with our 5 year old daughter. I especially appreciated the hair dryer in the room after getting caught in a downpour while exploring the city walls!

Jelle was super friendly and very accommodating. He helped us bring the suitcase and oh boy was it heavy. (We were traveling for 2 weeks) Thank you!! The room we stayed in was called "attic room" located top floor. Beautifully decorated! Loved the window on the ceiling. The sink in the room was a bonus as well. The bed was comfortable. Slept well. The bathroom was shared with different people staying in different rooms. However, it was no problem. It was clean and the shower was great. I stayed with the parents and was my first time with Airbnb so I was a bit worried but it turned out great. I highly recommend staying at Jelle's when in York.

My wife and I had a great experience staying with Jelle and his place. We traveled to York and spent 3 nights. Jelle's residence was very very conveniently located between the city center and the train station in which we arrived and departed. It only took less than 10 minutes to walk from the train station to Jelle's house, and about 5 minutes to the start of the city center. Jelle was a great host, even offering to pick us up from the airport. Unfortunately our train from Cambridge to York was delayed, causing us to arrive a little later. As such, my wife and I missed Jelle when we arrived into York's train station. However, as mentioned before the walk to his house was very short and quite pleasant. Nonetheless, we were greeted by one of Jelle's housemates who showed us around and answered most of our questions before Jelle arrived home to meet with us. Jelle had a binder full of information and material on the many attractions and sites the city of York has to offer. He offered us advice and suggestions for our short stay in York, which did prove valuable as our guide book was short on the things to do and see. Overall our stay with Jelle was great, convenient, and enjoyable. Jelle had all the amenities that he offered us, including breakfast and laundry service (which we definitely needed). Although we didn't see much of Jelle (as he told us at the beginning that he would be away for work) or his housemates, we were able to at least see and talk to him the morning of our departure. In fact, Jelle was kind enough to drive us to the train station, relieving us of having to carry our heavy backpacks even for the short walk. We appreciate Jelle's help during our stay in York and would recommend him for anyone looking for a convenient place to sleep in York!

Jelle welcomed me on arrival and showed me around the house. He was very willing to give recommendations for places to visit, but sadly my trip to York was too brief to explore. He pointed me to the closest place to get dinner, and encouraged me to make use of the kitchen. Bella's room was large, warm, clean and quiet, with a comfy bed. The house is beautifully decorated and a little quirky. It was a peaceful stay, and I enjoyed meeting Jelle and one of his other AirBnB guests. Thank you, Jelle.

Accommodation was well laid out, with a lovely view of the garden and had everything we needed for a 5 day break close to York. We very much enjoyed our stay (and the chocolate cake on arrival) and would be happy to use it again when visiting York. It was useful to have internet access to research places to visit. Park and Ride was only a short drive away and so too were the supermarkets.

Our stay at Parsley Cottage was just lovely. We were greeted by our host, Michael, and the accommodation and surrounding gardens far surpassed the photos we had seen. The cottage is spic and span with all of the amenities one could ask for, and is in a beautiful rural setting very close to the amazing town of York. The adjacent plant nursery also houses a cute tea shop, and we were surprised with a delicious chocolate cake on the kitchen counter upon our arrival. The on-site laundry helped us to easily get caught up with a few travel chores. Wish we could have stayed longer.... Thanks, Michael!

My stay at Jelle's has been one of the best I had. First Jelle is an amazing and friendly host, he made sure I had all the info before coming, was here to welcome me and remained at my disposal for any question I would have. His house is absolutely lovely and I felt home directly. Jelle is very well organised so you have everything at your disposal and it's really clean . I found very useful also to have a guest book in the bedroom : it helped me to choose what to do in York (and discover an amazing guided tour !). The location of the house is wonderful and I didn't have to use any public transport during my stay as it's close to everything in the city center (never more than 15' walk if you want to go to the opposite of the city ). There's probably no better place in York if you want to live like a local person !!!

Shared entrance and stairs but self contained once in the loft. The house is in a quiet suburb south of the centre of York. It's not too far into the centre - a 10 minute bus ride or a pleasant 20-30 minute walk along the river Ouse. A lovely attic space, recently converted with a big airy bedroom, a good sized bathroom and a little kitchen area. The loft room has a modern fresh interior in grey, white and brights! There's a lovely comfy king size bed with a feather duvet. You can have a non feather duvet if you like, just let me know. There's also a television, dvd player and selection of dvds. There's a hairdryer too. The bathroom has an electric power shower over a full sized bath. The kitchen has a fridge, kettle and combination microwave. You can borrow an iron and ironing board, just ask. The room has a beautiful view over the back garden and our neighbours' gardens too! It's the best of both worlds as it's a quiet suburban area with leafy streets. Nearby there are pubs with decent food and a row of shops for essential supplies. There's a cycle/foot path at the end of the street and it's an easy 20-30 minute walk into town along the river Ouse past the Millennium Bridge. York is a beautiful city with lots of history and loads to see! Plenty of pubs, restaurants and nightlife.... There are buses into town, and onwards. A shared front door and stairs but once you are in the loft it's self contained.... It really depends, mostly we are a pretty busy family but we are happy to help with anything you need; just let us know! Peaceful green suburbs with easy access to the 'Bright lights'! Free parking on the street, an easy walk to the bus stop and even into town on foot it's under half an hour? I provide tea, coffee and milk. I also provide towels. Also clean 100% cotton bed linen (not ironed)! Our broadband is very slow! Sometimes the water pressure is low, we try not to wash clothes and dishes when you are showering! I suppose that's the difference between a hotel and a home!Mehr lesen

Theolyn was a great host - very helpful and attentive. The loft room was really spacious and clean and the bed was extremely comfortable. The house is about 20 minute walk from the city centre (lovely walk by the river) and a taxi cost us £6 on Saturday night. We only stayed for a night but had a great time and would definitely recommend this place to anyone. Thanks Theolyn!

Theolyn's self-contained loft 'apartment' description and photos on airbnb certainly don't do it justice in the slightest! It was a welcome place of relaxation after a long trip from Scotland and it was a shame we could only stay for one night. Theolyn was a great hostess and incredibly helpful with maps and information of York, and breakfast supplies provided for the next morning. We popped out for a meal after arriving and whilst the Saddle Inn was closed for food, we can definitely vouch for the food (and portion sizes!) at the Plough Inn just a few metres further along the same road. A great stay, thank you Theolyn!

This was a great visit and I would definitely recommend Theolyn's place. Theolyn was very friendly and welcoming, leaving us breakfast, maps and recommendations of things to do. My partner and I had a lovely stay here in York. Theolyn was the perfect host - very welcoming and helpful, but also left us to do our own thing. The room was so nice, it's literally the comfiest bed we had ever slept in! It's so self-contained you feel like you have your own apartment, not that you're in Theolyn's home. The croissants, fresh berries and condiments were very much appreciated! We would definitely stay here again if we were to stay in York again.

Ferienunterkunft · York
Modern studio annex to 1850s cottage with its own access, very close to river (too close when it floods!), big family garden, feels like a country retreat but only 15 minutes' easy river walk or 5 minutes on cycle track from city centre. A lovely newly-built studio attached to the main house with a king-size bed and its own sitting area. The studio feeling is clean and modern, though outside it's more like a country cottage, with our nearest neighbours more than 100m away. There's a simple kitchen area with a sink, fridge, microwave and tea/coffee-making facilities, but no hob/oven. There is an electric shower, sink and toilet. If you're bringing children then we can provide two single mattresses with bedding - the garden has a sunk-in trampoline and a slide (at your own risk!). We also have 4 hens and a puppy (who never comes into the annex). The studio has its own entrance with direct access to a large family garden, which you're free to enjoy. Access by car is via a country lane (bring a torch if arriving at night on foot) and there's free parking on the drive. If you're walking or on bikes, there's direct access from the garden to the riverside cycle track and Millennium Bridge. It's 15 minutes' easy walking by the river into the city or just a few minutes on a bike. We're an easy-going, communicative couple and both often work from home, so at least one of us should be around to show you where you'll be staying and answer any questions you have about what's to see in and around York. You'll have your own front door, so if you want your own time and space, we'll leave you to yourselves to come and go as you please. If you'd like to chat and have recommendations, we'll be happy to help, and if there's anything you'd like to borrow - games? hairdryer? - just ask. We're surrounded by greenery on four sides: a meadow, a wood, a field and allotments, so the overall feeling is very peaceful. Finding a house so close to the centre of York with so much space is very unusual. The beautiful Rowntree's Park is 5 minutes' walk across the Millennium Bridge. We are a couple of miles from Heslington where York university is, there is also a lovely cycle/walking route. Also within 5 minutes there's an Indian restaurant, a very local Sam Smith's pub, a pastry shop, a pharmacy, a Sainsbury's local and - our closest shop - an Aldi. For a wider selection of cafes, shops and restaurants, it's worth walking into town or across the river to the lovely Bishopthorpe Road area. Easy walking distance to York Racecourse which takes around 20 minutes. If you're driving, we're only a few minutes off the A64, though be prepared for a bit of a bumpy lane. If you want to avoid the bumps, park the car off the main road by the Steiner School and walk down. If you're coming by train, you can take a taxi from the station (10 minutes, about £8.00) or the number 7 bus (every 10 minutes during the day, £1.75pp), then a 3-minute walk. Once you're here, the easiest way into town is walking or cycling. It's only 15 minutes' walk into the town centre along the riverside path or a few minutes on a bike. The buses into town are frequent (from Fulford Road) and easier and cheaper than driving and parking. It's also only 10 minutes on the bus to the Designer Outlet if you'd like to go bargain hunting out of town. We'll provide a light breakfast - eg, cereal, fruit, juice and tea/coffee - for you to prepare in your own kitchen area, so you're really self-contained and don't have to fit into our schedules. Our two children, 9 and 7,may also be playing in the garden outside of school hours and during the holidays.Mehr lesen

We had a lovely weekend in the Annexe, which was comfortable, beautifully decorated and furnished with a really comfortable bed - totally perfect for us. Selena was really friendly and welcoming, despite having a busy weekend ahead. The hosts had thought of everything; from the chilled bottle of white wine in the fridge, to the chocolates and fruit, not to mention the lovely toiletries in the bathroom. The location was peaceful, yet only a 15/20 minute walk along the paved riverbank, to the centre of York. This was our first experience of Air bnb, and we weren't entirely sure what to expect, but if this is indicative of the quality of accommodation and hosts available, then we can't wait for our next trip.

We are lucky to live in York’s most fashionable area with a great range of local cafes, shops, restaurants and traditional pubs. Truly unique for this city and as travellers ourselves we know these small things really count. There's a well stocked store open until midnight seven days a week and we particularly recommend the local fish and chips. Life just couldn't be easier! Only a few minutes’ walk from the medieval centre, old city walls and the rail and bus stations the location is superb. No waiting for taxis, buses or long walks back after a day seeing the sights. As lifelong 'Yorkies' we have endless personal recommendations, maps and guidebooks waiting for you. We currently do not offer access to cooking facilities or provide breakfast, though feel free to store things in our fridge (There is a great range of excellent cafes within 100 metres). Downstairs doors are often shut for child safety reasons so don't be afraid to knock if you'd like to talk with us. We are relaxed though busy family and you may not see a lot of us during your stay. We are very happy to answer any queries so do come and find us. Situated on the famous 'Bishy Road', voted the UKs best 'Great British High Street 2015/16'. Please allow me to be slightly biased. The experience with Julia and Paul is absolutely the best I have through my travelling around various parts of the world. Simply put, Julia & Paul can be a brand in York. The house is fantastic, so that I am motivated to study harder to buy one of my own like this in a years to come. It is a 15 minutes' walk from the York Railway station, and the location is actually central to wander around the major scenic spots and tourist attractions. The shops and restaurants nearby presented an authentic image of the neighborhood (seeing the same customer joking around with the same waitress twice, and the same gentleman sitting at the same table reading with the same magnifying glass twice). Julia and Paul are wonderful hosts, nice and warm. More importantly, they would like to share with us their travelling and adventures after graduation. I love people with stories and those willing to share are always a treasured gift to me. That is one of the reasons why I normally choose Airbnb rather than hotels. Paul is knowledgeable about China as he and Julia have hosted a number of Chinese guests He tried to make us (essentially a pair of introvert individuals) feel more pleasant by talking about China. His sense of humor also made us smile and laugh out loud especially when he played with the glowing green toy on the shelf. He and Julia even prepared a book beside the bed for us to know more about this wonderful city that never fails to shine and fascinate. Julia and Paul symbolized a lifestyle to me, a lifestyle that combines tranquility and sparkles, a lifestyle that i am striving to make me enjoy and make it endure.

Julia and her family did an excellent job of making us feel welcome and comfortable. They live in a lovely home where we had freedom to come and go, privacy, and a great nights sleep! The location is a pleasant walk or cheap taxi from the city centre. We'd certainly recommend and would stay again. Thanks Julia!

Had a lovely stay in York, comfortable bed, lovely house and great location. Loved the private bathroom and it was only 10 minutes down the road into the centre. Julia and Paul are lovely people and Paul helped us park the car in the right place so we did not get a ticket.

Ian was a great host, very friendly, helpful and accommodating. The room and shared space was beautifully clean but not so much as to feel you are imposing. The parking space was very useful considering it is reasonably close to the centre. I would definitely look Ian up again if I return to York.

It was a wonderful three-day stay at Ian's lovely house! The house is located just outside York city centre, with 15 mins walk you can easily reach all the important sites. We especially enjoyed walking from the house and go up on the city walls, you will appreciate how beautiful the city is! Ian is definitely an amazing host and made us really feel like home, though we didn't have much time to meet Ian, he was very caring and shared important information about York with us. The house is exactly the way it is as in pictures - clean, bright, comfortable, and with a great taste! We were able to use the kitchen and cook by ourselves, Ian was very generous in sharing! Highly recommend if you're looking for a home in York!

This property is a beautifully renovated former salt house, situated in an idyllic rural landscape. The house has a wood burning stove for cosy nights and a self enclosed garden should you wish to bring a well-behaved pet. Come and explore Yorkshire! The Salt House has had various uses - it was originally used for salting and storing bacon. In more recent years it has been a coal shed and then a children's play house before conversion to living space Guests have a private gated access to a well equipped cottage and a small enclosed dog proof garden with a table and chairs. The garden is surrounded by woodland. We live in the adjacent farmhouse but we shall always try to be around when you arrive. We have included as many details as possible on the welcome sheet but if you need more information or advice please feel free to ask. We are ideally located for driving to York, Ripon and Harrogate. Whitby and the North Yorkshire coastline is about an hour and a half drive away with several stately homes closer to hand. There are local walks to explore and some excellent village pubs within a four mile radius. There is private parking for one car within the cottage garden. There is no public transport in the immediate area. The nearest train station is at Thirsk, 8 miles away. The cottage has electric water heating, electric radiators and a wood burning stove for use in colder weather. A daily basket of logs is included. Wi-fi is available but is quite slow. There is a TV and DVD player., There is a dishwasher and washing machine.Mehr lesen

Myself and my partner stayed here for 2 nights and absolutely loved it!! The little cottage is perfectly decorated with everything you need. We had access to the main garden also which was beautiful with a treehouse and tree swing. Would definitely recommend this place for relaxing and visiting nearby towns. Myself and my boyfriend stayed in the salt house over new year until the 3rd of January. The salt house is nothing but beautiful, there's so many lovely homely touches in the cottage. Judith and Simon were fantastic hosts, from leaving essentials in the fridge and lighting the fire for us, the cottage is in a lovely area with many little towns around, more than enough things to do! Perfect new year get away!! I would de finely recommend it!

Judith and Simon's cottage is the perfect retreat, set in a beautiful rural landscape. Judith greeted us with a freshly baked loaf which was followed up by fresh eggs! When we enquired about local walks she produced an OS map of the area showing public footpaths, so we promptly set off to explore our new surroundings. The cottage is beautifully presented and a very comfortble space, a pleasure to spend time in. It had everything we needed for our stay. I would highly recommend this property.

Carol is such an amazing lady! She's warm, friendly and communicative, punctual and extremely helpful. The house is lovely, roomy, full of natural light and Carol's personal touches. My room was lovely just for 1, but would easily suit a couple. The bed was comfy, with fresh linen and warm blankets. Lovely natural light comes through the window. Bathroom is also bright and very clean. Carol's house is also in a great location, probably no more than 15 minutes by bus from the city centre of York. But it's also a great walk if you fancy seeing some of the surrounding suburbs, or to work off any Yorkshire puddings you might have consumed (I ate many). Carol also helped me with my washing, and made some lovely breakfasts and one of the best Yorkshire puddings I've had! All in all, a wonderful experience, and I wish I could have stayed longer. You probably couldn't find a better host in York! Thanks Carol!

Carol was the best host that my friend and I could have asked for when we were in York. For starters, our train was supposed to arrive at 11:09 p.m., and we estimated that we'd be at Carol's by 11:30 p.m., which is late by anyone's standards. She assured us that it would not be a big deal at all. Unfortunately, we were stuck on the train ride from hell, and our train didn't end up arriving until 2 a.m. The taxi line was ludicrously long, and we spent another 30 minutes waiting around, not arriving at Carol's until closer to 3 a.m. All the while, we kept her updated about our situation, and she was nothing but empathetic and kept assuring us that it would be fine, and to arrive safely. She was at the door ready to greet us in the middle of the night, and we went to bed straightaway. The bedroom and bathroom looked exactly as it does on the advertisement, and we were very pleased with our accommodations. Carol prepared breakfast for us the next two days we were there and had tea or wine ready when we came home. She also gave us great recommendations for restaurants and attractions, and was the ultimate lovely hostess. Carol was definitely a bright spot during our trip to York! The neighborhood is about 1.5 miles from the center of town, but it's also located close to a main road with a very convenient bus line. I would definitely recommend Carol's place to anyone traveling to York.

Ms. Carol was an amazing host! She went above what was required to make us feel at home at comfortable. She provided a lovely variety of foods for breakfast and ensured we were comfortable in our room. She also provided great local information. I cannot say enough about how fabulous and gracious she is. I would definitely stay again and recommend to others.

Carol is a considerate person. She is kind and polite. The description of the room is accurate, and I never see a need to ask for anything. Clean towels were provided every day, and she made lovely breakfast for me each morning. She also washed and iron my clothes-I felt as I was at home. The place is only a short walk to the bus stop, and you can buy a weekly pass for only 12 pounds. Carol was kind to assist me with directions and also offer a free ticket to the York Minister but, unfortunately, I was unable to take the advantage of this offer as I had too much on my plate in addition to the extensive workshop I was attending in York. Thank you for a wonderful stay, Carol. Best wishes, Tabish

We really enjoyed our stay with Carol in York - infinitely better than a hotel! Carol kindly met us at the station to give us our key when our train arrived & took our bags back to her house which saved us carrying them around whilst we explored the city. Our room had an en suite & a comfy double bed with plenty of blankets, & a hairdryer, towels & shower gel were provided. The neighbourhood was quiet so we slept well, & two windows meant the room was brightly-lit during the day. The house is a 20-30 minute walk from the city centre but the route is straight, simple & safe. As well as a delicious breakfast, Carol provided good company & chat over a cup of tea, & gave us tips & recommendations of places to eat & things to do. Thanks so much for making our stay so lovely!

Try one of our comfy camping pods in N Yorkshire. The Small Pod is ideal for 2 people, but you can fit in a child & dog too. Bring everything you would camping - apart from the tent! There are no beds, but we hire out airbeds for £3 each. Hillcrest Park is our 6 acre, holiday location in the northernmost of the Yorkshire Dales, Teesdale. Surrounded by farmland, it offers peace, tranquillity and beautiful views of Teesdale – yet is only 10mins from the A66. It is ideal for walkers, cyclists and dog owners (we have a dog walking field onsite) and is close to Richmond, Barnard Castle, High Force Waterfall, Raby Castle and a host of other Dales attractions. Camping Pods are solidly built, insulated wooden huts with good headroom and a carpeted interior floor area, with lights, a heater and an electric socket to power mobile phones, laptops and travel devices for that little bit of extra comfort. There is timber decking providing somewhere to sun-bathe, prepare food or hang your wet gear. The window and lockable French doors are double glazed and the Cumbrian sheep's wool insulation and fitted heater means that the Pod really is a year-round option. There is a cycle storage area on site and we also hire out camping stoves and mattresses if you require and can provide a breakfast pack with advance notice. You will have full use of our centrally heated amenity block with free showers, loos, hairdryer, hot water for dishwashing, fridge, kettle, microwave and hob plus a coin operated laundry. There are picnic tables/benches provided for each pod as well as hardstanding for barbeques. If you don't want to cook outside for yourself, there is a good pub a mile and a half up the road in Caldwell (the Brownlow Arms) which serves food in the evenings. But if you fancy a good walking destination, you can wander down to Winston Gate (15mins walk away) and take the Teesdale Way along the river Tees towards Whorlton and have lunch at The Bridge, which is open from 10am until 11pm and is also dog friendly. Alternatively, you can head into Staindrop and have brunch on the green at the Laurels cafe. All in all, the Pod really is 21st Century Camping. So why not revisit those fun childhood holidays, but this time with grown-up comforts. Guests have access to our centrally heated amenity block with free showers, loos and campers' kitchen, and also our 3 acre field, ideal for exercising both children and dogs! We also have a small shop on site selling the basics. We're here to help all our guests if they need it. But also happy to let them enjoy their break in peace! Remember staying in a camping pod is very much a camping experience - just in more comfort - so bring all your camping kit!Mehr lesen

This was our first experience of podding and we were not very well prepared. Our host was very pleased to see us and made us feel immediately at home. Sensing that we were novices she inflated our air beds and showed us around the site pointing out the facilities before asking us whether we had made arrangment to eat in the evening. She made a number of suggestions but in fact we had booked a table at a restaurant locally. We had an excellent night's sleep. When we left in the morning she asked whether we had enjoyed ourselves, made several suggestions of places to go in the vicinity and told us something of the history of her business. We certainly plan to go back when we have more time, hopefully later this year. In conclusion, it is a beautiful location and immaculate site with clean, well maintained services. The pod itself was warm and comfortable.

We had an excellent stay in one of Kate & Ed's camping pods. The views are wonderful, the site is small and quiet so the perfect place to relax. We did an excellent 9 mile walk recommended by Kate, into the local village to a pub called Fernaville's Rest which serves great food. The Pods don't feel overlooked as they all face out to the open field with super views. We were able to watch the sun set over the fields and throughly enjoyed our 2 night stay. Thank You.

Jelle was very welcoming once we got to meet him and had left very good instructions on how to get in as he was not there at the time. The room was lovely and everything was clean and ready for us. Appreciated tea and biscuits in our room on arrival as it was raining and cold. The room looked out into the famous York wall which was a treat for us. Location was good, not far to walk into town. Did not mind sharing bathrooms which both had plenty of hot water and was great to be able to use the kitchen and the filtered water for drinking. Overall a beautiful York stay.

Quiet house 20 minutes walk from York City Centre on a quiet road. As a guest you will have private access to a living room with a fireplace. You will have a private WC, and a shared bathroom. Parking is available for one car. Coffee and a selection of teas are provided in the kitchen and a light, self-service breakfast is included. Fresh bed linen and towels are provided. We have a lovely cat! The bedroom is warm and spacious and has twin beds. Across the landing is a WC for your exclusive use; and a shared bathroom. The private living room has a sofa and reclining chairs. We will light the fire in the evening if you are in the living room to make it really cosy. You are welcome to use the kitchen to make tea and coffee, and you can use the fridge, toaster and microwave. Please note you will not be able to use the cooker in the kitchen. We ask our guests to kindly not use outdoor shoes upstairs. We have some very basic slippers in case needed! Catalina and Margaret have lived in the house for 10 years. We will be present during your stay and will be more than happy to recommend great places and things to do in York. We live in a quiet street with an almost rural feel and yet it is just a pleasant 20 minutes walk to the historic centre of York or the train station. The Number 2 bus runs from near the house (Water End) to the centre of York (Museum Street). There are three different ways to walk into town: along the river; or walk down Bootham and through the historic Bootham Gate arch; or behind St Peter's School and through the Museum Gardens. Each one takes 15-20 minutes. Taxis from the train station/town centre to the house cost approx. £7 in normal traffic conditions. There are cafes and restaurants nearby, and local takeaway restaurants deliver to the house. If you order a takeaway please eat it in the private living room rather than the bedroom. You can use cutlery, plates, etc from the kitchen.Mehr lesen

Our hosts - Catalina and Margaret - could not have been more welcoming. They both went the extra mile to make sure we had a comfortable stay, providing, for example, home-made bread for breakfast, 'real' coffee and even a daily newspaper. Most important of all, though, was their own friendly approach - they really made us feel at home. The house itself was perfect - clean, warm, comfortable and with privacy for the guests. The whole combination made for a very enjoyable stay and one which I hope I will have the opportunity to repeat.

Our house is the perfect place to stay while visiting York. The house is located in "Britain’s best high street" Bishy Road full of lovely shops and cafés. It is easy to walk to every main areas in York. The house consists of two bedrooms, one living room, one open kitchen and dining room and one bathroom. The shared bathroom (located downstairs) has a shower and a bath and we have a lovely back garden with table and seats to take meals outside or simply relax. The guests bedroom has a double bed (and a single bed that can be used for a £15 supplement), a desk and a wardrobe. The location of the house is ideal. Have a look at Bishy road's website on which you will find what's on. Everything is at a walking distance. The train station is a 10 min walk max from the house. You wil find a Europcar at the train station if you want to rent a car. We are 4 min away from the river, 5 min from clifford's tower. You will also find a gate to start the infamous "walk around the Wall" accross the street. York is one fat history book of a city. Chapter One is simply wandering around and wallowing in the names - The Shambles, Bitchdaughter Tower and Whip-Ma-Whop-Ma-Gate. Then visit the tremendous Minster (entry £5.50 a head), fully restored inside after the disastrous fire of 1984. York has a rich Viking past.Mehr lesen

Cath and Phil's is a modern, comfortable and a private property; I would definitely recommend it to anyone seeking genuine value for money for a luxury property. We had 9 people in total for the weekend, but the house could easily accommodate 12/13 comfortably. Cath and Phil were fantastic hosts, booking with them was easy, clearly communicated and swift. In person they gave us all a warm welcome, showed us how to use the all important Jacuzzi and multiple lighting systems! Additionally, I do have to give a special shout out to them for fully answering all of my questions in advance.

An absolutely lovely house, impossible to fault. We rented the house for a weekend with friends for a birthday celebration and made great use of the pool and Jacuzzi, and had a BBQ in the nice outdoor area – which is a bit of a sun trap for most of the day! The house itself is a great size, with a large kitchen and nice lounge for relaxing in. The bedrooms are a nice mix of doubles and twins. Phil and Cath showed us around the house in detail and ensured we had everything we needed before they left, and were happy to drop back in when we had a question. Liversidge is a nice area, and a trip in to Leeds was only a short cab journey for food and bars. Would happily use again if the opportunity arose, and will definitely recommend to friends.

We had a brilliant weekend at 'The Hen Party House' for my sister in laws hen do. The house is even better than it looks in the pictures! We were a group of 10 but could have easily have fitted more in. Cath and Phil were fantastic hosts. Their communication before I stayed was great and they offered lots of information and advice about the house, local area and transport which made planning the weekend much easier. They met me on arrival to show me around and also came to wave us off. They took the time to remember details about the bride to be and the wedding date even though I booked so far in advance! The house itself is amazing and has everything you need for a party - we had booked a night out in Leeds but ended up coming home early because the house was so good. The pool is the icing on the cake - the bride to be screamed when she saw it and couldn't believe I had found somewhere so good! It was a fantastic weekend and I would defiantly recommend the house to anyone. Thanks Cath and Phil!

I am so pleased to be able to leave a 10 out of 10 for Phil and Cath. Not only did they make every inch of our weekend easy, but with their helpfulness they also made it fabulous. I had so many annoying questions about location, food shop delivery, speakers systems and where was good for a party near by. They were always so helpful and made me feel like a guest even before I had arrived. The house is amazing. Being a big group of girls we loved the pool, massive kitchen where we could all play games and eat together. It was perfect for a big group of mates getting together. Near by there are some pubs-we had a great night out. Gotta say a huge thanks to Cath for having a good giggle with us when we first arrived, she made us feel relaxed and welcomed. Many thanks guys! I had been searching for ages for the perfect place to stay for my friends hen do, so I was relieved when I came across Phil and Cath's and it was available :-) From the moment we arrived Cath and Phil made us feel very welcome and excited to be there, with a big reveal of the pool and Jacuzzi on the tour around the house, which the hen had no idea about. We used the house as a base for the weekend and went out in Leeds on the Saturday night which was only 15/20mins away in the taxi and then spent the Sunday enjoying the pool and jacuzzi which we all loved! The couple went above and beyond to ensure we had a great time, even putting away the home shop we arranged to arrive just before we got there. All these things really helped make it weekend none of us will forget! Thanks both x

Cosetta's place was exactly as pictured. The unit was sparkling clean. It looked and felt as if we were the first guests in fact, everything was so new and clean. Unit was well appointed with nice extra amenities upon arrival. We had trouble finding the place initially, but that was our fault because we arrived so late and had trouble reading signs. Cosetta was always reachable by phone, text and email and she and her husband were very good at communicating with us. The Walk is in a superb walkable and safe, secure location. Jumped on the bus from the train station for arrival as outlined in their notes…easy. Monk Gate, one of the entrances to the walled city, is less than a 10 minute walk away. Carol was a incredible host! She was warm and easy to talk to and always provided us with breakfast every morning. She also kindly offered to help us with our laundry which we didn't expect but were really thankful for. She made our stay in York very comfortable, and we really appreciated all the insight she provided about the area. The room is really spacious and homey, and the bed was very comfortable. Her house was very conveniently located - just a 7-10 minute bus ride into the city center. We definitely had an enjoyable time here, I'm sure anyone else would as well. I highly recommend anyone who's looking to explore York to stay with and get to know Carol (:

Carol's top floor bedroom with ensuite was brilliant. Easy parking if you come by car & well located for a lovely river stroll into the city. Carol herself was both delightful & very knowledgable & we were delighted to bump into Carol in the city & go to the Golden Fleece (recommended) for a couple of drinks. She made us so very welcome & we couldn't recommend her room or Carol herself more highly !!

Carol, is a lovely warm and caring lady. She loves a good conversation and is incredibly helpful with information about York. The location is a convenient 10-15 minute bus ride to the centre of town. I really loved staying in her home and would recomend staying at Carol's.

Carol was great! Very comfortable stay and even offered an Xmas pie on arrival. It was clean and quiet. Just what I wanted while working away. Carol was very helpful advising me where to eat and put me up in a room with its own toilet and shower. Very happy and would definitely stay again

Large townhouse located 5min walk from the York hospital, St John University and 10min from York Minster. The room rented is a single bedroom ideal for someone who needs to spend a few nights in York for work or leisure. The room is not very big but cosy and modern with a little desk space. The kitchen, dining space and bathroom are shared. A private parking space is available for 1 car. From the house, I find the fastest way to go to town is by foot however, we have a bus line 1 and 5 which stops 30sec away from the house and can drive to/from the station for example.Mehr lesen

Although the room is cosy, but with Clemence I was allowed to get benefit from an extra room downstairs, garden and other rooms and facilities. Clemence and her husband were very cooperative and flexible. I enjoyed my one week stay in her house, and highly recommend it.
