Good solid cafe, especially if Maranui is too full. Easy to stop at along the no. 3 bus line, or an easy 20 minute walk from our house.

Walk up one of Wellington's oldest most characterful streets. Plenty of arty shops, alternative clothing, and cool gift shops. Fidel's has been going for years and is a mainstay of the 'cool crowd'.

For fans of any of Peter Jackson's films this is a must see. Miramar is a stones throw from Lyall Bay, and has become affectionatley known as Wellywood.

Get some fresh air around on the South coast. You may even see a seal. Good place to take the mountain bikes too.

A great spot to get your bearings when you arrive in Wellington. It's a decent uphill walk (and workout) for half an hour. You can go by bush tracks or road. Do it on a clear day.

A beautiful walk along the waterfront is a great way to build up an appetite. The waterfront starts down near the ferry terminal and follows all the way around to where Oriental Bay begins.
