Very pretty medieval wool town with great shops and sightseeing opportunities. Visit Melford Hall (National Trust), where Beatrix Potter used to visit. Kentwell Hall (privately owned) has fantastic re-enactment weekends - both Tudor and WW11, as well as the brilliant Scaresville around the time of Halloween. A visit to the beautiful medieval church at the top of the green is a must. Plenty of antique and art shops to visit.

The home of horse racing, visit Palace House, where you can go to The National Horse Racing Museum, The British Sporting Art Trust and Retraining of Racehorses. Get up early and watch the strings of racehorses exercising on The Gallops. Spend a day at the races, on either the Rowley Mile or July Racecourse, depending on the time of year. In the summer, go to a race meeting and then stay to enjoy a concert at Newmarket Nights.
