It is a preserved National Historic site - a Civil War battleground. The period of the Atlanta Campaign during the Civil War marked the beginning of the end for the Confederates. There are great walking trails and it is free. On clear days, downtown Atlanta and Stone Mountain are visible. It's very popular weekends.
