City/town information

Rosarito is a little amerimex town right on the Pacific Ocean. Because we are so close to the border lots of people, and not just Americans, but also European tourists who visit the States are coming over to stay for a few days. We have a big Shopping Center, Pavillion, right on the entrance to Rosarito with a big movie theater (check for movies in original language), shoe shops, boutiques, beauty salons, beauty shops for hair, skin and make up. Beauty parlors perform small beauty procedures (botox etc.). And you can find your favorite food here for sure because there are just so many restaurants to go to. Walmart and Home Depot are just 2 of the American companies which decided to open branches here in Mexico. Downtown you can find really great restaurants ($ - $$$$) and bars (famous Papas n Beers). Downtown is where everything happens. You will find exchange shops, licore stores, fashion shops, perfumeria, and so much more. And of course the main attraction is the free beach.....stay all day. But use sunscreen lotion...you do not want to look like the lobster which you will eat in the evening. :))

Puerto Nuevo used to be just a little fishermen village in the early 1900s. Well...it has been coming a long way from back then. Today there are sooooo many shops offering souvenirs, shoes, clothes, all beauty merchandise, ice cream, FREE tequilla, toys, too much to list all. But really famous is it for the lobsters. There are plenty of restaurants in Puerto Nuevo to choose from. One is as good as the next one. And at low tide you can use the beach and tan and go swimming in the ocean.

FLEAMARKET on Saturdays. It is not a huge flea market but it's fun for 1, 2 hours. You drive into Primo Tapia all the way to where the pedestrian bridge crosses the Highway. Do a right turn down one of the roads and start to look for a parking spot. And remember where you parked. There are second hand vendors as well vendors with new products. Fresh fruits and vegetables, food stands (I normally don't eat at these stands). Small local restaurants are open for breakfast or lunch. But it's pretty rustic. But there I eat what they prepare. I hope you have fun there.

HUGE SUNDAY FLEA MARKET. Starts at 8 am and goes until 2 pm. In the summer it is huge. If you know where Walmart is in Rosarito? It is right across the street from Walmart. Across the 1 D Toll road and the free road (Highway 1) going towards Tijuana on the right side. You drive on the free road direction going to Tijuana. You cannot miss it. It is on the right side. Parking is always difficult but there are lots where people rent you a spot for 20, 30 pesos. Just remember where you parked. Take pictures of the surroundings. This market features second hand stuff, new stuff, watch repair, shoe repair, fruits and vegetables, antique stuff, beauty products, hairdressers/barbers, tons of clothes booths and shoes, food stands (but I don't eat from them), and more. I love this market and when I have the time I always go there on Sundays.

Sports Bar and Restaurant

How convenient is this please? Just 4 minutes walk distance away from your Airbnb rental you can dance all night, drink as much as you want to and afterwards walk home. Perfect. Johnny always has great live bands on the weekends. Or you can watch Sports on the big screen TVs during the day. They open normally at 12 pm....but sometimes a little later. Hey, we are in Mexico. Who cares? Nobody :))

Sports Bar and Restaurant

El Pesacador is one of the best Restaurants here in the area. They offer Mexican American style Food, Meat, Fish and Vegetarian. Super nice wait staff, always ask if everything is ok? The food tastes really really good!!! Totally recommend them...you are in the best hands.

Food scene

We go to Rubens mostly for dinner, not so much for lunch. It is great food, but the wait staff is sadly not very focused. You have to tell them twice if you want something. Don't get me wrong. They are all sweet and nice but maybe just need a little more wait training. Prices are a little bit higher but still ok. The atmosphere is exceptional. Very nice decor. They are expanding at the moment to be able to hold bigger events there. Try it....it's worth it.

If you are in Rosarito and don't want to go into a restaurant just get a fast Hamburger or a Torta from Charly Manhattan. The food is tasty, the sizes are great and you can't beat the prices. For Rosarito really good. Try them!!!

Neighborhoods

When you take the free road (Highway 1) going towards Ensenada you will automatically end up at an intersection. To your right you will see the El Pescador Restaurant, you will see the OXXO store, a little cute shop in that mini mall with all kinds of cute stuff (worth visiting) and my favorite Ice Cream Makers. OMG....you have to try their homemade fruit ice cream. I am always a little worried to eat at the little food stands by the side of the roads but this one is the BEST. I never had stomach problems later on or felt not well. They are very busy in the summer months. Because all people know how good they are. TRY THEM!!!!! 80 Pesos ($ 4) for a medium size cup which is actually big for me, hahaha, but I need to have it.

The Name changed to HAPPY HOUR. It is THE hang out place for the American community. Mostly because they have really good prices. A beer on tap a dollar....can't beat that!!! And daily food specials. Try it out if it's yours.
