The Dinorwig quarry is a large former slate quarry, nominated for Unesco World Heritage status. It is now home to the Welsh National Slate Museum, located between the villages of Llanberis and Dinorwig in North Wales. It was the second largest slate quarry in Wales, indeed in the world, after the neighbouring Penrhyn quarry near Bethesda. There are fantastic walks in the quarry, easily accessed from the chapel, which provide an awe inspiring view into the past and the incredible effort of the men working there to extract the slate which was transported all over the world, but in particular to the US. The chapel played an important part of the lives of the quarrymen as it provided a centre for the community, a place to meet.

Walks

The description ‘Country Park’ doesn’t really do this place justice. Ranged around the lake of Llyn Padarn, there’s everything here from watersports to walking, wildlife to industrial heritage, woodlands to inspiring mountain views

Great for people looking for exciting adventures
Great for thrill seekers. A very popular experience and.. it's only just over the hill. With the wind from that direction we can just about make out the whoops & screams of excitement 😁😬🙃!
