Adventures
Oh, the quarries! Vinalhaven’s rich history in granite quarrying provides one of the best treats for summer enjoyment - swimming in clear, deep, perfect fresh water! Booth Quarry is my favorite, offering the largest . There are also some small to medium cliff jumps (up to ~10’) that many find thrilling. Lawsons is smaller, closer to town, and therefore perhaps a little better for small kids.

There are also 16 nature preserves on the island, with some incredible hiking and sight-seeing opportunities. Hike to the “basin” from Granite Island Preserve trailhead or from my house on the Basin Loop Trail
