The old church in Sodankylä is one of the oldest wooden churches in Finland. The church was built in 1689 at the expense of the Royal Majesty. Stylistically, the church represents the medieval tradition of church building on the one hand, and the Ostrobothnian tradition of wooden churches on the other.

Feel the speed of a husky sleigh safari! In Arctic Husky Farm you'll meet about 200 Alaskan Huskies and 20 Siberian Huskies. They are eager to meet you and give you the ride of your life! Our town are in the middle of Lapland so you can rest here and travel by car to all four directions and see the whole Lapland. Visit Laplands all nature parks from here. Hiking places in near our town: Pyha-Nattanen, Oratunturi, Luosto, Pyhatunturi. Nearest free outdoor fireplace is near town center on the Pappilanniemi nature trail. The trail is located near the center of Sodankylä, just south of it, between the rivers of Kitinen and Jeesionjoki. It can be reached by walking along the popular outdoor route near Sodankylä old Church. The route runs along the banks of the Kitinen river. 2.7 km from our AirBnB -apartment and only 1 km from the old church. The old church was built in the 17th century. Airports in three directions (south, west and north). Nearest is in Kittilä (1h 15 min).
