Sightseeing

Windsor started life as a Saxon village - you can't help sightseeing as you are surrounded by history!
Windsor Castle is the oldest and largest inhabited castle in the world and is quite literally on your doorstep. The Castle has been the family home of British kings and queens for almost 1,000 years. It is the favourite residence of Her Majesty The Queen and is still very much a working royal palace today, home to around 150 people. Beautiful Scenery

Windsor has stunning scenery everywhere and these recommendations here are just a small part of what you can see.
Windsor Great Park is home to sweeping historic parkland, award-winning gardens, ancient woodland and forest trails, all of which start just a few minutes walk from your front door. I would very much recommend a wander down the Long Walk to The Copper Horse, which starts at the Castle gates just down the road from the apartment (& past one of the best pubs in Windsor, The Two Brewers!) and takes you through The Deer Park. You can also visit the beautiful Savill Garden, walk around Virginia Water lake and visit the stunning Valley Gardens. If horses are your thing, you can also watch Polo at Guards Polo Club, where they play most days of the week and host the Cartier Cup amongst other competitions. You can find more information here: www.windsorgreatpark.co.uk/en

Windsor is lucky enough to have the River Thames running alongside it with a delightful riverfront that has a wide, paved pathway running all the way along, allowing you to take a lazy stroll along the water. There is an opportunity to feed the many swans, ducks and geese with food purchased from the ice cream shop on the riverside (make sure you indulge in an ice cream for yourself too - you won't regret it!). Behind the riverfront for much of the way is a large traditional park, called Alexandra Gardens. This is the kind of place where (at least during the summer) you'll see visitors lazing on the grass taking a well earned break from the serious business of sightseeing.
