Hiking

There’s several trails on the Blue Ridge Parkway close to us that we have been on. Blue Ridge Parkway Trail link - https://www.blueridgeparkway.org/hiking/ Mile Post 271.9 – Cascades Trail – Waterfalls/easy 296.4 – Boone Fork Trail – moderate/strenuous 305.2 - Beacon Heights Trail – short, moderate but great views 308.2 – Flat Rock – easy, but great views – can do this one the same trip as Beacon Heights 316.4 – Linville Falls – moderate, 3 levels to view the falls, can also go on the other side of the falls for another view. Worth the trip. Moses Cone Trails – there are a lot of trails around the manor that go to an Apple Barn, Stables, Cone Cemetery, tower, around lakes, and carriage trails. You could easily spend a day here and stop for lunch in Blowing Rock.

Grayson Highlands – wild horses and ponies certain times of the year. The Appalachian Trail runs through here. Great long-distance hiking and fabulous views. It’s a bit of a drive from us but well worth the trip. https://www.dcr.virginia.gov/state-parks/grayson-highlands
