Getting Around

Only two blocks from our place, you can rent a bike. They have a lot of route suggestions. Just ask how to avoid the hills (it's important). I highly suggest riding through the park, along the embarcadero/crissy field, and perhaps over the bridge to Sausalito (you can take the ferry back, although you need to consider timing).

Parks & Nature

Great for a run or walk (all the way to the beach would be about ten miles from our place). The classic route is down JFK Drive, but you can do a loop by coming back on MLK Drive. There are also trails on both sides. Don't miss seeing Stow Lake (and perhaps paddling around it or walking up Strawberry Hill in the middle), Spreckels Lake (and seeing the bison just down the hill to the west), seeing the Dutch windmills near the water, and checking out Ocean Beach at the end. I also highly recommend walking by the Conservatory of Flowers, going to the free observation tower in the De Young Museum, and walking through the rose garden, the Shakespeare garden, and the AIDS Memorial Grove. Kezar Stadium is also cool to see.

Mild trail that stretches from the Sutro Baths/Point Lobos to the Seacliff neighborhood. From here you could walk quickly up to the Legion of Honor for more views (and perhaps a stroll through the art museum) and down a ways to China Beach or onwards to Baker Beach.
