Parks & Nature

It is so beautiful. On a clear day you can see the waterways of Hobart and Hobart and its surrounds. The mountain has many walks, and changes with the seasons and times of day. To watch a sunset or sunrise is wonderful. Truly magnificent! Take warm clothes no matter what the conditions down here. It can be blowing a gale and be freezing although sometimes it can be still and warm.. Remember in Tasmania we can have 4 seasons in one day.

Wonderful setting overlooking the River Derwent. Beautifully maintained gardens containing trees from around the world and colourful displays of flowers, especially in spring with the tulips! Cafe overlooks the gardens and the river. The pond is full of waterlilies and ducks, with a very pretty bridge over the stream running into the pond. Ducks galore and often ducklings trailing behind.

Great views across to Bruny Island and down the channel. Very nice restaurant there, with some window seats that give you a very pleasant and comfortable view down the river. The signal station is located here. Messages were sent from the South to Hobart town via the signal stations along the way,
