This 14th century pub and restaurant is a 2.5 km walk from our house. With low ceilings, flagged floor, roaring fire, it serves great beer & lovely (though not cheap) food. THE ROYAL OAK has injected energy into the area with its airy decor, garden room with locally made oak tables and glass walls. The food is expensive but delicious and the service great. I love the burgers and chips. 01747870211

THE HORSESHOE INN, in out of the way Ebbesbourne Wake, serves the best Sunday lunch in the area. (SP3 5JF) Worth the drive (actually, the drive is stunning.) Huge amounts of food, endless trays of vegetables and all for 10 quid (last time we were there!) Possibly the only pub lunch that succeeds in filling up our teenage boys. 01722 780474

THE HORSESHOE INN, in out of the way Ebbesbourne Wake, serves the best Sunday lunch in the area. (SP3 5JF) Worth the drive (actually, the drive is stunning.) Owners were dairy farmers who diversified in 1988 to include a tea room, Farm shop, and pick your own.
