A lot of soldiers got stationed at Vágar during the second World War which affected the whole island. The museum is a wonderful way to be taken back in time and will show you the village in a different view when you come back out, since it has not changed much since the war.

Trælanípan has become famous for its stunning view where you can see the lake lying above the sea. There are many historic views on the way to Trælanípan and a guide is therefore highly recommended.
Be careful though when standing close to the edge since wind gusts are not uncommon and might take you off balance. The safest way is there for either to lie on you belly or stand with your feet apart, giving you a better balance, about a meter away from the edge.

This is the place to hike if you like to see the nature undisturbed by tourists. The river that flows from it has one of my favorite waterfalls.

This is the place to hike if you like to see the nature undisturbed by tourists. The river that flows from it has one of my favorite waterfalls.
This mountain is a few hours hike from my house but the view from is absolutely stunning. You can see all the major villages in Vágar from it and if you are there in the evening you will be able to see the most beautiful sunsets.
