A Locals Guide to the Ferry
Some insider tips to avoid frustration while saving time and money.
Ferries run to the Sunshine Coast out of Horseshoe Bay in West Vancouver around every 2 hours. If you are traveling by car on a Friday evening or on a long weekend, you may want to consider making a reservation. If you make it 7+ days before traveling it is only $10. If you end up having to wait a little while for a Ferry, you can leave your car and walk into Horseshoe Bay. There are many restaurants and shops to spend time in or wander through the park/seawall.

A handy tip for when you are leaving. On long weekends the Langdale Ferry terminal can be quite busy. Langdale Ferry Terminal is not as nice to spend time at as Horseshoe Bay is so why do it when you do not have to?
One of the great things about the house being so close to the ferry is that you can avoid the sailing waits. You simply need to designate one of your group to 'take one for the team'. If you know that there are going to be 1+ sailing waits, pack up the car and send the chosen group member to the ferry terminal a little bit before the ferry arrives (keep an eye on the BC Ferries Terminals at a glance to see when the second sailing is close to 75%). They drive to the ferry and will be put into the overflow lot. They will have to wait for 20ish minutes while the ferry unloads, loads, then when the cars from the overflow lot will be moved into the main terminal. After that, simply lock up the car and walk the 15 minutes back to the house. 2 hours later, when you see the next ferry starting to get close to turning around Gambier, your group can casually walk to the ferry terminal and a few minutes to board.

This park is also quite close to the house. It has a variety of hiking and biking trails. There are some easy loops and some longer/harder hikes/trail rides. Great for the hiker of any fitness level.
