Sight Seeing & Nature

Aroha Island has a QEII National Trust Covenant protecting it, and is a beautiful spot for camping, swimming, a walk, picnic lunch (bring your own), and of course kiwi viewing. With a rich Maori history and the exciting fact Kiwi live on the island (attached to the mainland via a causeway), Aroha island is a must visit!

The husband and wife couple from California always have a good yarn to spin. The wine is gorgeous and the port is also outstanding. My pick - the rose and with a glass (or bottle) of this on the patio... you cannot go wrong! Summer in a glass!

Sightseeing

The Stone Store is a very old building - built in 1832, the Georgian-style Stone Store was originally a Missionary Society warehouse but assumed various roles including a trading post, library, barracks and boys’ school. It also served as a general store, a tradition that continues today in the atmospheric ground-floor gift shop. The gift shop is lovely and the country gardens surrounding the Stone Store and Kemp house are definitely worth a look.
