Hide is on the edge of town - as you approach from the west. If you are lucky enough, and patient enough, watch for platypus surfacing.

Daytrip from Cairns via Ravenshoe, Millstream Falls, Innot Hot Springs. Take morning half day lava tubes tour and end up with sunset view from rim of Kalkani Crater. Well worth the trip!
