A beautiful, historic waterfront hotel. Enjoy afternoon tea with popovers and a gorgeous view then take a walk around their manicured gardens. Avoid the crowds at Jordan Pond House and have your popovers here.

Closest local amenities here. Get organic local produce and goods at the Blue Hill Coop. Visit Bucklyn Coffee shop for excellent locally roasted coffee. Tradewinds supermarket is a great grocery store for your big shops. Cute downtown with great little shops.

Located on the Union River in Ellsworth with a lawn on the water for lounging while you wait for your table- last time we were there we saw and eagle grab a fish right out of the water.

Gorgeous coastal town with little shops, bakeries and scenery. Quieter and less touristy than its neighbor Bar Harbor but with just as much to offer. A personal favorite.

Take a tour of the gorgeous waters surrounding Cranberry and Islesford islands on a small boat that delivers the mail to the folks who live there. This is one of my favorites summer activities. Less touristy and more personal than the big tours but just as fun.

Waterproof shoes, a warm sweater and jacket, and bug spray.
Even summer in Maine can be cool - especially if you'll be going out on the water. Make sure to bring a warm sweater and jacket and waterproof shoes.
If you're going into wooded areas, check yourselves for ticks afterwards. Especially behind your ears and in your hairline.
