Beautiful place in Patillas, however to get there it is very curvy road. It is very serene and chilly spot for picnic, camping, hike and swim. You need water shoes or brave the slippery stones. You will need to cross about 3 small foot bridges to get to the Chalco. It is worth it!!! Cons: there is not restroom. Bring your lunch and enjoy the afternoon in Paradise!!!

It is a nice lighthouse in a very beautiful sandy beach where you can plan for a beach trip. It is located next town Maunabo which is 20-30 minutes from the house. To get there the road is curvy since it follows the southeast cost which offers a very nice panoramic and picturesque ocean views along the coast. It is worth your time since is very nice beach and there are some restaurants close by.

If you visit Ponce this is a must see historic building. Very interesting museum of fire fighting history in Ponce. The Plaza as a whole is very nice, surrounded by many historical buildings. We also enjoyed Utopia Cafe, which is also a store with lots of tourist items, clothing, beach towels, and home decor items. Phone: 787-840-1045

Usually, this beach at La Guancha is lovely. You can spend a day with the family and the kids, or even a few minutes if you want to relax or be away of the city. The parking area is free and there's no charge to enter the beach. It's very windy, so if you have a kite, this might be the place you were looking for. The administration tries their best to keep the beach and surrounding areas as clean as possible, but if course, visitors sometimes are not willing to do their part. Also at nights is a little sketchy, although there's a police station a few meters from the beach.

If you visit Ponce town must stop by in this boardwalk. It is a great place to relax and take a light stroll. At once of the boardwalk there is a look-over tower, giving elevated view of La Guancha. Great places to eat real PR food and listen to some music. It overlooks the Club Nautico de Ponce and has many restaurant and bars. They mostly sell delicious 'fritters' like what we call 'bacalaitos (fried cod fish turnovers)', 'empanadillas (fried meat-or cheese filled turnovers)

Absolutely wonderful experience here. The Japanese Garden is beautiful and easily accessible. The short film they have you view, prior to the tour, is narrated in English and Spanish. The film gives a snapshot of all the history of the castle and the grounds and how this amazing place came to be. Phone: 787-259-1775

This is very nice place to visit if you have some extra time when you visit San Juan. You will learn about the history of Bacardi rum. They offer a tour but you need to call before to see their availability. I highly recommend this activity. You can take a boat from San Juan and a taxi from the town. I am not sure if they have a bus from the boat location or not. You can call them and ask. Phone: 787-788-8400

San Juan, Puerto Rico's capital and largest city, sits on the island's Atlantic coast. Its widest beach fronts the Isla Verde resort strip, known for its bars, nightclubs and casinos. Cobblestoned Old San Juan features colorful Spanish colonial buildings and 16th-century landmarks including El Morro and La Fortaleza, massive fortresses with sweeping ocean views, as well as the Paseo de la Princesa bayside promenade.

You must see this historic building. You can't leave PR without going for a visit this 500+ year old castle. The views are phenomenal and you will go back in time on history. The views are amazing. The towers over look the coast as well as the city of San Juan which is a prime spot to take pictures. The park is well maintained, with gourgeous grounds. Each area has signs with a historical overview. It has modern and clean bathrooms and has a gift shop as well. It is a MUST see and highly recommend this activity. Phone: 787-729-6960

Luquillo, Fajardo (East coast) and Culebra Island

I added Flamingo Beach in this category since it is a great sandy beach. It is not in the main island but you can take a boat ride to this place
Beaches and views were beautiful. Pure white sand, clear water, nice location. Food/drinks at concession stand were great. However be aware that the restroom facilities left something to be desired.

El Yunque is an amazing place. This is a tropical rain forest in Rio Grande , Puerto Rico. It MUST see if you have sometime. You can visit the same day that you go to Luquillo Beach since it is located very close. This rain forest is part of the US Forest Service, a group of national parks located throughout the US. This is the only tropical rain forest in the Forest Service system. It is an amazingly beautiful place and can be compared in beauty and grandeur to the great national parks of the US like Yosemite or Denali, though of course it is much smaller. Many of the trails are still closed because of damage from Hurricane Maria several years ago. There is still plenty of hiking trails and things to see. These include several waterfalls. The one I saw is the La Mina Falls. It is right off the side of the road. Many people climb the rocks near the falls. I wouldn't recommend it as the rocks are quite wet and you can easily break and arm or injure yourself Phone: 787-888-1880

This is a MUST do activity for the whole family. I highly recommended!!!. It is all day event (9:00am-400pm). You MUST call them a made reservation!!!They provide the snorkeling gear however if you have your own gears you can bring it with you. It is a great experience since they provide food and drinks. The kids can explore the island, shell collecting or swimming offshore in crystal clear waters. The crew will take you to a leisurely sailing into uninhabited Icacos Island. I highly recommend this activity for the whole family. There are other Catamaran in the same area so you can review them and select the one that you prefer. I had done several of them and their services are kinder the same regardless of who you select. It is worth every penny of your money. Very important to made the reservation since some days they don't go out.
