The prices are a wee bit on the high side, but the rooftop deck and fact that it's stumbling distance to the house make it the perfect spot to start or end your night. Our recipe for a great night out: walk down to Caliente, have a cocktail, then either walk or grab the free Night Rider Shuttle up to the Casinos for a show. OR head down the street to the other great restaurants in walking distance.

This little market is the best Mexican food in town and is also a good spot for essentials that you don't want to go all the way to Safeway for. It kills us that they still use styrofoam to-go containers, but that's the only thing not absolutely delicious about this place!

Grab a coffee or breakfast on your way to the mountain! Darin, the owner, is often behind the counter himself slinging breakfast with a smile. Tell him Matt & Monica say hi and then try the breakfast burrito. Yum!

Technically walking distance (although there's a hill to get there... but its downhill on the way home!). Check out the free Night Rider Shuttle to grab a ride there instead. Great shows, lots of bluegrass. The casino is small and definitely not Vegas-worthy, by any means, but its a small community casino that is pretty darn fun. Bonus Points: they have a great air system and keep the cigarette smoke to barely-perceptible levels.

The sweetest little golf course you ever did see!! Nine holes of historical, organically- and impeccably-maintained golf with Lake Tahoe vistas. Pretty awesome spot and the restaurant on site, Spindleshanks, is sooooooo good.
