Sightseeing

In 2018, Grinda was named one of the world's most beautiful unknown islands in the American women's magazine Pure Wow. Grinda is one of the most popular tourist destinations in the Stockholm archipelago with frequent and fast boat trips with Waxholmsbolaget or Cinderella. From Värmdö the boat trip takes only 10 minutes and from Stockholm it takes an hour. At Grinda you can do a lot of things (visit grinda.se for more info) or just enoy the landscape, take a swim at the small beach or have a nice meal at the restaurant and watch the boats come and leave. There is also a shop and café during the summer, a large guest harbor with a sea bar and sauna as well as kayak rentals. On leased land owned by the Archipelago Foundation in Stockholm County, Grinda agriculture conducts agricultural activities, the main purpose of which is to preserve the old cultural environment and prevent the island's remaining open landscape from growing again. This is one of my favorite islands in the archipelago. You have plenty of things to do and enjoy here if the weather is good. My grand-grandparents were running the farm here until 1950. You can come here by ferries from Boda or Lillsved, a 30 min drive by car from Ramsdalen. In Boda there are plenty of parking places during the summer but you have to pay a fee. I am not sure how many parking places there is in Lillsved. Or you can take the boat from Waxholm, it is a little bit further to drive but the boat passes here more often. Visit https://waxholmsbolaget.se/ for timetable for the ferries and https://skargardsstiftelsen.se/omrade/grinda/res-till-grinda/ for more information about Grinda. Both available in english

Sandhamn is a historical site located in the outermost sea band. With its special location, the island is a paradise for those who want to enjoy a living archipelago with barren cliffs and white beaches. In and around the island's harbor it is buzzing with life. Here you will find restaurants, bars, hotels and shops. Leaving the harbor awaits extensive promenades and windswept pine forest. Here you are welcome to escape everyday, whatever the season is. Get here by boat from Stavsnäs which departure several times a day during the summer. The car ride to Stavsnäs takes around 45 minutes and there are around 650 parking lots for visitors I like to come here to experience the pulse of summer with all the tourists and boat people who come here. Then I like to eat some food at Sandhamn's inn. And why not buy some fresh bread at the bakery. https://waxholmsbolaget.se/ https://www.sandhamn.se/

To eat

In the middle of Bullandö Marina is the popular restaurant Bullandö Krog, which is open large parts of the year. The restaurant is large but in the summers almost all seats are filled with guests who are stuck for the attractive archipelago menu and the inviting porch. It is is located right on the water with a view of the boat life in Bullandö Marina. During high season, from early May to mid-September, they offer two menus. One is updated daily while the "Classic Menu" is persistent. The food is classic Swedish with Mediterranean influences and the menus contain something for most. I like to come here to eat good food and enjoy the view over the harbour, there is also a small grocery shop next to the restaurant. The car ride to Bullandö krog will take around 30 minutes http://www.bullandokrog.se/home/

At Bullandö Ice Cream Factory on the marina, Italian ice cream is manufactured and sold and they also serve coffee, sandwiches and other goodies. In addition, there is an art gallery. Really nice ice creams!

The grocery store with the largest assortment of goods on Värmdö, right by the highway from Stockholm. Stop here and buy fresh groceries. But if you are in a hurry, there are other smaller grocery stores in the same area, or a little bit further out in Hemmesta

Activities

There are several small animals in the yard to visit. Play a round of Adventure Golf or Football Golf, climb the Forest Obstacle Course and walk the Träsktrollen path with the smallest! Siggesta Gård is also a horsefarm and its possible to let the children take a ponnyride outdoor The restaurant Ladugården has well-prepared dishes composed by Alexander Nilson, who is now our profile and food inspiration. In addition, Värmdö's best of the day lunch is served on weekdays. In the Orangery, there are good sandwiches and farm-baked coffee every day. Our baker bakes all bread and fig bread in our bakery in Ladugården, she draws her inspiration from, among others, Lila's bakery and Rosendahl's gardens. If you are looking for a good cup of coffee in a lovely environment, the Orangery is open to you. Here you can also buy tickets to our games. In Ice Cream and Gottboden we have Swedish ice cream in 24 flavors, lots of sweets and other fun for all children. I have been here several times with my children to play adventuregolf or eat in the resturant, and my daughter takes riding lectons here. Its easy to get here by car and the ride takes 30 minutes from Ramsdalen

In Saltarö you can swim at a sandy beach (parking is 50 meter from the beach)and buy something to eat in the kiosk by the bath. There is a summer open food truck (called Saltarö Mat) that serves Thai food and is popular with locals.

A thousand islands cruise

Experience a large part of the archipelago with a full day cruise. This cruise is new for this year and I have never ridden it, but it takes you around to some of the most popular and easily accessible parts of the Stockholm archipelago. An added plus is that it takes you to Bullerö where it is otherwise difficult to get without your own boat https://www.stromma.com/sv-se/stockholm/utflykter/dagsutflykter/tusen-oars-kryssning/

Own car is the most flexible

It is clearly easiest to get around with your own car. You can also go by bus to do grocery shopping or sightseeing but since the bus from the house does not go so often, you have to adapt to its timetable. The bus to Stockholm takes about 70 minutes
