Kiwanis Park is located on Lake Taylorville across from the marina and features a playground, picnic shelters, a firepit, charcoal grills, a restroom and a fishing dock. Sometimes the picnic shelters are booked for special occasions. Free.

This linear park is an example of "Rails to Trails" and is about 17 miles in length from Taylorville to Pana, IL, going through the towns of Owaneco and Millersville. Owaneco is home to the Angry Kitty Winery and Ale House which makes for a nice stop along the bike ride. Free

There is a fishing lake here, playground equipment, public swimming pool, horse shoe pits, restrooms and picnic shelters. During the summer months there is a monthly music performance under the Chautauqua free to the public.

This site is home to several preserved buildings of historical value including the original Christian County Courthouse where Abraham Lincoln practiced law. Free, but a free will donation would probably be accepted.

The Christian County Courthouse, our 3rd one which is over 100 years old, has an Abraham Lincoln section on the first floor and noteworthy restorations on the 2nd and 3rd floors. In the ceiling of the 3rd floor is an art glass dome which was restored about 2005. If you are an early riser and here on a Saturday morning, the clockmaster shows up at the south door of the courthouse at 7:30 AM to go up to the clocktower for weekly winding and servicing. He will take you along if you are there and you will get a behind the scenes tour of the clocktower and panoramic views of the city. Free
