Walk straight up to Corso to the long expanse which is Manly beach. There are cafes and restaurants to eat and people watch. There is also an esplanade which is a good walk any time of the day and goes from Queenscliff Beach to Shelley Beach.

This is a 15 minute walk and is a lovely harbour beach. It is small, protected by w shark net/pier and there is a little kiosk that has nice coffee and snacks. It is a quiet harbour, neighbourhood beach. It is usually less crowded and little waves as compared to the main beach.

Walk up the corso onto the esplanade and take a right. It is about a 15+ minute walk along the water until you reach the last beach, Shelley Beach. It is great for swimming, sunbathing, and snorkelling. It is a protected cove and provides great ocean views. Well worth the walk.

This is the best place to snorkel. You will see all sorts of tropical fish.

You can roll out of bed and practically roll to this harbour beach. It is the closest beach to the apartment and a great place to go to sunbathe, read a book or watch people, ferries, boats go by.

If you would like to venture out and try another local beach, grab the 136 or 139 bus from the ferry building and take the bus to Freshwater. It is the next town north and has a gorgeous protected beach that is great fro swimming and surfing. There is also a saltwater pool there is you want to do laps. The village of Freshwater has some good cafes (Pilu, Saltbrush at beach and then Little Collins in town), a good chicken shop, and excellent bakery Mrs.Jones. Freshwater is a nice little nearby escape from Manly.

North Head is a great place for bush walks and sightseeing. You can take a bus from the ferry building or walk there. There are great views of the harbour, birds, and military history. There is also a little cafe, the Bella Vista Cafe, which is a nice stop for food or coffee.
