Completed in 1912, St. Alexander Nevsky Patriarchal Cathedral Stauropigial Memorial-Church is an impressive landmark in Sofia. The church was built as a memorial to the 200,000 Russian soldiers who died in the Russo-Turkish Liberation War (1877-1878).

Easily accessible by car, bus or taxi. A great starting point for a hike is Boyana Church. From there you can select various routes all clearly marked. Choose from The Golden Bridges, Boyana Lake, Boyana Waterfall, or just choose a path that looks good, hit the trail and go with the flow. You can also reach the Simeonovo cabin lift to go higher in the mountain. It will take you to Aleko hut, which is also accessible by car.

The mediaeval frescoes are simply magnificent and our friendly and thoroughly knowledgeable guide made for a wonderful experience. An exceptional example of Bulgarian Christian and royal architecture. A great place for both an educational tour and a picnic! You have only 10 minutes inside which might not be enough to enjoy the paintings. The area around the Church is really nice for walking/ picnic.

Each station services a different line. E-scooters are available from Hobo and Brum Brum apps on your phone. You can rent a car from the Spark app on your phone. The loft is in a green zone (parking area in Sofia).
