Sightseeing
The pretty little town Vaxholm is well worth a visit. Boats leave the harbor regularly and is a convenient way to explore the archipelago. Hembygdsgården is a local favorite for a traditional Swedish fika. There are plenty of restaurants, coffee houses and ice cream bars.

Bogesund Slott offers nice walks in both park and forest environments. The old castle itself has an interesting history and the oldest part is from 1640. Even though it is not open for visits on your own you can join a guided tour (Saturdays and Sundays at 2 pm all summer until September 11th). The nearby cafe Parkvillan has homemade “fika”. Usually open Thursday to Sunday 11-16 during summer.

Per Brahes vägBogesund Slott offers nice walks in both park and forest environments. The old castle itself has an interesting history and the oldest part is from 1640. Even though it is not open for visits on your own you can join a guided tour (Saturdays and Sundays at 2 pm all summer until September 11th). The nearby cafe Parkvillan has homemade “fika”. Usually open Thursday to Sunday 11-16 during summer.

If you visit Norrtälje, don’t miss Edblads, a design company founded in the area. Affordable jewelry, clothes and some home items. They also have an outlet/warehouse store in Gåsvik, well worth a visit if you dont mind driving a bit further.

Closest grocery store. There is also a pharmacy and a few other shops nearby. Located about 10 minutes drive from the apartment, right before you get to Åkersberga.

Go for a swim and use the authentic sauna ( check webpage for updated opening hours), and hike in the area. There is also a restaurant and cafe.

There are several quiet beaches and places within walking distance for swimming, relaxing or having a picnic (btw, an outdoor dinner by the sea during sunset is hard to beat). Not all of them are easy to find though. The closest one is if you take a right on Västerskärsringen and walk a couple of minutes (takes me exactly 2,5 minutes with my walking pace ☺️). When you see a row of mailboxes on your left you should take the small trail down to the sea. Right after the old yellow house.
Walk carefully, as it is quite steep. It’s a very small beach but close and most of the time you will find yourself alone there.
