Cordoba is one of Andalusia’s most historic regions, hosting civilisations since at least 42,000 BC. Like much of the region, it has seen Roman, Moorish and Catholic Spanish rule and has a wealth of historic monuments to reflect its rich historical past. In fact the whole historical centre of the city was granted UNESCO World Heritage status in the 1980s.

The region’s capital without a doubt takes the crown as THE must-visit city in Andalucía. Home to around 7 million people, it is the region’s largest and boasts some of the most historic and visited sites in all of Spain – or Europe for that matter. These include the stunning Real Alcazar palace and gardens.

Food scene

El Pimpi is a restaurant-winery in the city of Malaga, Spain, specializing in the sale of wines from the Malaga denomination of origin. It is located on Granada street, in the historic center of the city, in the building that formerly corresponded to the Buenavista Palace stables. The building was converted into a convent and later into a party hall, operating under different names. Its importance comes from having been the place where various flamenco figures began their careers, such as La Repompa de Málaga. According to some versions, the name of El Pimpi derives from the English term “pimp” (in Spanish pimp), alluding to the character of that profession that formerly took foreign sailors who arrived at the port to places where they could find prostitutes.
