Contemporary Art with regular, rotating exhibits. Built around the family home of one of the Hanes (Hanes underwear). Valued as much for the grounds (expansive lawn with lake in the back....a concert and / or wedding venue, this attracts unusual art exhibits, changing them out regularly. In the neighborhood, can be reached by bicycle in 10 minutes.

A tiny neighborhood bar with indoor and outdoor seating, no food, minimal atmosphere, good service. Rarely crowded, almost exclusively regulars. Located in the small West End in between Buena Vista and Downtown.. Listed here as a "tip of the hat" to the place where your host, David, has spent Monday nights for the last 7 years (claims its Bible study)

The Yadkin Valley to our North, discovered that they could plant former tobacco fields with grapes, and the conditions were perfect to support a growing wine region. There are over 30 wineries that provide tastings. Provided here are the select few we take friends to because they offer a "different experience" in addition to their wine samples.
Located in Ronda, NC, about 30 minutes away, Raffaldini has created a place that looks and feels like you are in Tuscany! Good wine, great picnic areas, beautiful scenery. One of two wineries that we take friends to visit to sample the best of the Yadkin Valley wines.
