The prices are extremely reasonable for the level of absolute deliciousness that you can depend upon. Cocktails and wines are also win/win.

The Crochet Museum and Art Queen are QUIRKY and joyful. I love the work of thee actual Art Queen. She sells her inspiring and fun creations and you can sometimes spot her at work next to the shop. Open most days from 9-5. You can get on site after 5pm, but the museum won’t be open. Within the same courtyard area are several Burning Man-style sculptures and other small stores and galleries.

If it is a busy weekend or holiday, the park entrance at Twentynine Palms will have a shorter line. The rangers will provide you with a really cool map at the entrance. Their are CLEAN restrooms at all of the parking lots.
This is one of the few National Parks where dogs are welcome in some areas. To be specific, dogs are not allowed on trails, as their scent scares off the wildlife. Dogs ARE welcome on paved and dirt roads (of which there are many) and even in campgrounds.
Rangers will often host campfire storytelling evenings. You can read about events on the park's website.
